I have an app I use (Andriod) called 30 day fitness that has been really cool but I'm physically weak so I haven't been able to follow it point blank. I'm trying to get my eating habits in control and healthier and I really want to get motivated to start working out at least every other day... I have really gotten out of shape the past few years. What do you guys do for exercise at home? We have a stationary bike but the power cord broke so there's no resistance on it lol. I run on that while watching tv and other than that I do squats with 3 pound weights and sit ups and crunches.

There are some really good workouts at this website and I think most don't require any machines/weights/balls...props. It's also a really great resource for "building your body" if you decide to peruse around the site. They have 30 day workout plans and diet plans, as well as recipes and some articles on nutrition.

I highly recommend the apps:

Β

5K Runner

Pushups Pro

Squats Pro

Situps Pro

Β

All of them start you out at super basic beginner exercises that are easy and build you up slowly. You can plug in headphones and listen to music and they have a virtual coach that walks you through in some of them.

Planks, flutter kicks, donkey kicks, push ups (start with girl push ups and start with low amounts on the reps). All of these should be rotated around and try to do 5 of each with very ittle rest time before you move to the next exercise. Also lunges are great.

Β

There's way more I could list off but this are all a good jumping off point.

Β

If you're weak these will help start to build that initial muslce and while they don't necessarily get harder you get stronger and can do more and work your way up to harder exercises as you're ready.

I do yoga at home guided by a YouTube video. This one is my favorite:Β https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IS4x2H2IOi0

I lost 18 pounds this last summer by speed walking 2 miles a day with 3 pound-5 pound weights, Dance Dance Revolution (PS2 game haha), and situps. It's taken me YEARS to finally get this much weight off, so it is effective. :P I also sorta kinda dieted. I just was extremely careful about taking small portions, so my stomach eventually shrunk to where I wasn't so crazy hungry all the time. XD That was probably the worst part for me haha cuz food is LYFE.

Jumping jacks, squats, push ups, flexing heels on stairs, stretching a lot, and using one of those giant balls....but that's all I got a the moment.

Β The balls (there's giant ones, smaller ones, and weighted ones) are GREAT props for ab workouts!

Thank you guys! :3

I'm going to play around with a few different routines and see how it goes. I'm excited to get in control of my fitness. Now if I could stop going through the taco bell drive through on my way home from work... lol

More yoga here: www.doyogawithme.com

Pretty much free, and many different types of yoga, different levels, etc.

FitnessBlender on YouTube is also good. Many workouts don't need equipment, or very little.

Finally, this last one isn't free, but hear me out. It's called Crush60. Add a dot com to get to their website. They have a home workout version, and one for the gym. I have the gym one and let me tell you, it's tough. After I fell off the exercise bandwagon for a month, I couldn't jump right back into those workouts. Well, I could, but I was taking longer rests between sets and doing the reps a little slower. Sometimes I didn't even finish. The website does give a free sample, just enter your email. https://crushfit.com/collections/athome

Also, I want to add that I saw an older post by Sangre in this section of the forums, and someone said ''don't eat less than 1200 calories''. Anyone who advocates a diet of less than your BMR (basal metabolic rate, which is the amount of calories you'd burn if you were in a coma, basically) is setting you up for a horrible metabolism and probably even an eating disorder. Since most of you are from the US (this data still applies to pretty much everyone), here's a chart from USDA, which shows estimated calorie needs per day, depending on your activity level, and whether you're male or female.

http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/sites/default/files/usda_food_patterns/EstimatedCalorieNeedsPerDayTable.pdf

Or, if you want to be more exact as to your caloric needs, use a calculator, like this one: http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/

I'm writing all this because so many people follow dumb fad diets and wonder why they either never lose weight or why it all comes back when they quit the diet. Make healthy living a lifestyle, and results will follow and stick around. And think of your body as a car. It won't function properly without enough fuel. So, the quick answer is eat a sufficient amount of healthy food and work out. Just don't forget to live and have a cheeseburger or whatever it is you want once in a while. 80/20 or 70/30 is a rule many people follow.

And if you want proof, well... I got to Finland in January 2016. Since then, with better eating and exercise habits (less junk, more healthy food, smaller portions spread throughout the day, workouts, walking instead of driving when possible, etc.), I've lost 8kg so far and I eat anywhere between 1800 and 2000 calories per day. I've still got a lot more to do, but I'll get there.
