Has anyone read The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothuss? If you liked Harry Potter and Game of Thrones you should give it a try! I just finished books one and two and I'm obsessed

I saw this post and I was like please be about the book please!!! This is the book I recommend to anyone and everyone. Even if you are not a fan of fantasy you can certainly appreciate Patrick's flair for story telling! The books are written in first person and are written beautifully in first person too!

Also there is a short novella out as well, you will either love or hate the novella but still an interesting piece of story telling!

:D I'm happy to see someone else has read it and loves it as well! Now everyone else needs to read it so we can all discuss. I'm reading the novella now and it's not my favorite.

I read the Name of the Wind when it was first written in 08? All I know is that I have been waiting YEARS for each installment!

If you read the novella straight after reading the books I dont think you will like it. It needs to be read on its own. Its certainly a very very different take on story telling. I didnt love it. But I didnt hate it either and I was just happy to see something finally written by him. I actually got so excited becuase I thought it was the 3rd book!

I haven't read it either, but I have a very long list of books to read, so I'll add it.

Right now I'm reading "The Shining" by Stephen King

AhhHH dropping in because I love this series, dying for The Doors of Stone. Have you guys read the short story for Bast (my lowkey fav character)?? It was published in the Rogues anthology put together by George R. R. Martin

Icungle

In the depths of the frozen jungle, you and your crew stumble upon a clearing. Past a carpet of fog and creeping vines, a crumbling stone well juts out of the ground. And sitting in profile on its rim is a beautiful woman. Whether or not she is a native Valentrian is unclear, but her long pale hair cascades over her shoulder and down her back, falling into her lap. As you approach, she lifts her head and makes to stand. When she turns to face you fully, her true horror is revealed. The half of her that had been out of view is ice blue, lifeless, and skeletal. Where one side of her face is flawless and shining, the other is a skull’s rictus grin. Before you can master your shock, she opens her malformed mouth and speaks.

“I am the beginning of seasons and the end of seas, the first of six sisters and the last of three thieves. What am I?”
