So it's a long story and I don't feel like getting into it just yet, but Bailey was put to sleep 2 weeks ago today. So for the past couple weeks Whiskey has been a singular dog and he isn't coping with it. He's never been on his own before (without other dogs, I mean) and he was just miserable all the time and it wasn't good for him. As you probably saw by the "get a breed added" thread, I was planning to bring home a Maremma Sheepdog puppy from the shelter in the next town. Everything went well, but he and Whiskey just did not mesh well in the home visit nor on neutral territory. So we decided it wasn't a good idea.

I really didn't want Whiskey to go much longer without a companion, so yesterday I drove out of town to look at a litter of 13 week old Border Collie puppies. I took Whiskey with me and we fell in love with this guy. Yes I mean "we" :P Whiskey was instantly drawn to him and so was I. You can see why! He's gorgeous.

Anyway, his name is Bear. The breeder's kids gave all of the puppies "temporary names" because they don't like calling them all "pup" lol which is fine because it would be easy enough to change it, but we're just going to keep it. I really don't have the desire to go through the hassle of naming another boy because I freaking suck at choosing boy names!

So this is Bear:

I've seen ads from other people selling border collie puppies, backyard breeders of course, regular black & white puppies are $500 and caramel & white puppies are $900. Way to milk it -_- And they try to pass them off as rare. They're not rare. A a little uncommon perhaps, but definitely not rare. They are the fox red Labs of the border collie world lmao.

Anywho, he is freaking perfect. I swear to dog i've never had an easier puppy. He's only had ONE accident in the house, which was entirely my fault because I got caught up doing something and didn't pay attention to his warning signs (he hovers around the front door if he needs to go) and he did it on the hard floor in the kitchen, not the carpet.

His first night sleeping here was brilliant. I put him in the upstairs bathroom (next to our room) to sleep and he had two short moments of howling before he settled down and went to sleep, then he was up for the day at 6:30am the next morning. Danny has been working night shift so after the first night I was on my own at night so I brought Bear in with me and he slept on my bed lol. I had to set alarms to wake him up to go out otherwise he'd sleep right through. Last night danny was home so I put Bear in the laundry to sleep with Whiskey and it was an entirely trouble free night. Not a single peep. Got up this morning to find him snuggled up to Whiskey. I tried to get a picture but he woke up and exploded with excitement lmao.

So everything is going swimmingly. Which is really, really great, because after losing Bailey the last thing I needed was a difficult puppy that made me hate the world LOL.
