What are the prime ages to breed dogs, and horses?

Horses: 18 for backup foals if you wish to sell or keep an extra and then again at 20, since they retire at age 21
Dogs: 13 for backup pups if you wish to sell or keep an extra and then again at 15, since they retire at age 16
