About the Breed

The Appaloosa is a distinctly spotted breed originally from the United States. Due to the fact that they have been influenced by many breeds in their history, they have feature a variety of body types. Appaloosa spotting patterns are found to be very interesting by equine coat genetics enthusiasts. The breed was named for the Palouse River, through Nez Perce country. Today, it is one of the most popular breeds in the United States, and has influenced other breeds such as the Pony of the Americas, Nez Perce, and several gaited breeds. It's a test!
