Help remembering things

As the topic implies, I need help remembering things. I am usually good as remembering stuff but recently, I've found my brain is pretty distracted and so I've been forgetting to do some pretty important things. I've tried setting a "reminder" on my phone, but they are pretty easy to ignore, so it doesn't help a lot.


Maybe there's an app someone knows that would help? What do you do to help you remember things?

I'm super traditional and I have a planner that I use to write down everything important.  It doesn't have pop up notifications or anything, but I have found that the actual act of writing it down makes me remember things better.  I also do double up on super important events and put it on my google calendar.  I sometimes even put notifs in my phone to check my planner daily. 

It's nothing super helpful or creative, but it works for me. ☺

I'm kind of the queen bee of not remembering anything, so what I do is:

I have a planner and I write down day-by-day what I need to do. I draw my own planner out, but you could just use a commercial planner. I have different symbols for events and tasks, and then I have a symbol to mark them as complete, or move them to another day.

Then I have a dry-erase calendar for the entire month where I write down appointments and events and bill due dates, etc. which sits in my dining room where I can see it.

And if I REALLY need to remember something and I'm worried I won't see it in my planner, then I will text it to myself or have Joel text it to me and not open it, because I will see the little red icon telling me I have a new text and that will hopefully remind me when I go to look at it.

I have a planner for my day to day and then a calendar in the living room with everyone's relevant work schedules, bills, and pay days written in. There's a white board on the fridge with everything going on that week, and everything of mine is also in my phone calendar. 

 

I'm pretty good with keeping my long term things straight. It's the day to day tasks and goals that I'm just like. Derp. All the time. I've never forgotten a bill but I am constantly forgetting laundry...
