May Breed Spotlight

A bit late in posting this month! Each month we will pick a new rare-on-HP breed and give away a pointed pair of them in order to boost the number of breeders of that animal! We will rotate between horse breeds and dog breeds every other month! The giveaway will be drawn, and the new breed posted on (or as close as possible to) the 15th of each month!
This month's breed is: Bashkir Curlies!
About Bashkir Curlies
Curlies are a breed of horse which comes in many colors, shapes, and sizes but is defined by their curly hair! Their costs, maes, tails, fetlocks, and even their inner ear hair are all curly. Because of this people with horse allergies are much less likely to have a reaction to them. It is a common misconception that they are "hypoallergenic"; however, because their curly coats can hold in dander, and also because they sometimes have less hair, it causes fewer allergy-causing proteins to be released. Interestingly some Curlies (called "smooth coat" curlies) have no curl to them at all! They have excellent endurance and while generally between 14 and 16 hh, they can be bigger or smaller and are very strong. It is usually an animals' undercoat shedding that makes people's allergies worse.  |
