I finally got some tack to try on Hunter.
We found a cute little tack shop in town and the lady that owns and runs it is SO amazing. She is so nice and welcoming to people breaking into the horse world and she tries her best to help as much as she can. She offers so much good advice, and she sells me things heavily discounted as well as throwing stuff in for free!

She had said previously that when i'm ready, go back and see her and she'll give us a couple of saddles to try on him. As we're 1/2 hour out of town she was happy for us to take a couple home for the weekend. So Danny called in there yesterday after work, as it made sense for him to go in without me seeing as he was already in town.
Danny came home with two saddles, a basic all-purpose and an australian stock saddle. The stock saddle fits Hunter really well, which I am SUPER pleased about because it's very comfortable. The other one didn't fit very well at all. She also sold us a new leather bridle with reins for the same price as a PVC bridle with no reins. She gave us a few bits to see what fits his mouth the best. She also gave us two saddle pads for free, and for $20 she gave us a rug that she said he can wear year-round.
I'm very happy with the stock saddle so we'll be keeping that. We'll take the other one back on tuesday (long weekend) and pay for the stock saddle then.

SO. To the original point of this post. I spent two hours grooming Hunter this morning, because he was filthy and mostly because we had tack to try on him and I wanted to make sure he was clean so it would be comfortable for him and no dirt and mud would rub and grind and annoy him. Also I didn't want to have to spend forever cleaning tack. My face was SO dirty, i'd eaten more dirt and dust than food, and my hair had so much dirt and mud in it I gave up trying to shake it out (it was super windy and every time I moved him out of the wind, it would change direction). He is also losing his winter fuzz so there was hair EVERYWHERE and it was all over my clothes so bad that I couldn't move without getting itchy.

But, at the end of it all, he looked AWESOME. So what did he do? This is what he did.

I didn't even know where he found it. Turns out he found the smallest of mud puddles right in the middle of the side paddock, I didn't even know it was there. He's lucky he's cute.

AND LOOK! He's got a tiny moustache. Have you all seen that post/article thing circulating around Facebook about horses growing moustaches? Yeah i'm sorry, but I can't let that happen. Nope.

Also, you can't own a horse and not take an eyeball photo. It's like a rite of passage.

Lol he is definitely cute :) I knew a horse that had a mustache, it was so cute and fuzzy. But it did irritate him when he was exercised so his owner shaved it off.
