In the states it's a great time to get part time work right now because everyone is going back to college. I myself just got a job at a department store. Don't be discouraged though, that dream job will come along eventually :3 good luck with all of your job endeavors

Aww. wishing someone will hire you soon. I was looking for a little over a year before I finally found something and I love it

I hear you. I just found out yesterday that I will be out of work by the end of the week. Traded in browsing craigslist for houses to look for jobs instead. Bring on the interviews. :(

I have my master's degree now, I really, really don't want to work in a store or something. :( Come on, education, work for me!

I totally understand that. It's no that it isn't beneath you, but you went to school for a reason and it wasn't to work retail/fast food!

Normally in Aus you can get a job quite easily but I have been struggling to get a new job for the last few months. Luckily I didn't quit my old job so I still get a bit of income.

I know something that helps is if you can look around the office you are being interviewed in and try to figure out what that person likes. If you can 'mirror' their interest, even if it is fake, you are more likely to get a job. We were going over this in both Psychology and Sociology the other day and I found it interesting that there has actually been research to back it. However, after going through the data I thought about all the other interviews I had prior to the job I got (Animal Control, Vet offices, fast food, book store, ect...) and I had always been so nervous that I just made I eye contact and answered questions without looking around. The only thing I did different with Kroger was I made myself come in relaxed (haha, it helped the manager was thirty minutes late to the interview) and once in her office I looked around trying to find something we had in common (we had both just gotten back from Florida and she had a GSD and I have a mix). The interview turned into a three hour thing and I was hired before I left. The sad thing about this part is... I don't recall talking about any previous work experience during this interview. xD It was a whole 'oh, I got a good feeling about her' hire. Not that I mind. I love my job and I am thankful for it every day. Sorry to babble. xD Adranth - What did you go to college for?
