So I'm not even sure how to word this in a way that makes sense, but I'll do my very best. Background to the question: I am interested in a retirement breeding of my Norwegian Elkhound Line. I want to use one of my 12th generation females - https://horsephenomena.com/dogs.php?id=86946.I'd like to breed her to my 1st generation male - https://horsephenomena.com/dogs.php?id=63600.The problem is that the 1st generation male is the great great grandpa (7 generations back) of the 12th generation female. At what point is an animal considered to be "inbred" on HP? I know that in RL, as long as there is plenty of seperation through mamy generations than it is not an issue at all. At what point do you consider the inbreeding to devalue the animal? Is there a certain timeframe, or number of generations, you'd like to see in order for the inbreeding to not devalue the animal? *For example, I do not agree with inbreeding animals in which they share a relative within 1-4 generations. However, I feel that if there is at least 5 generations separating the "inbreeding", then it doesn't impact the value. What are your thoughts on this? |
