I think.... THINK... he will be named King Leonardo. He is a sweetie pie and nearly full grown. He is a Goini x Brooksi mix. |

Y'know, I think they're stunning and incredibly interesting, but...they don't have legs, and this bothers me =( |

I was raised around them. My aunt bred Pythons, my brother breeds Boas and I am considering breeding Kingsnakes. This boy here was given to me from the breeder in exchanged for some large snake cages my brother gave me. They were much to big for my snake (the still unnamed albino mosaic female) at the time. Now that I have this guy, I wish I would have kept them around. As for the now legs thing, lol I understand, but there are things WITH legs That scare me more, like scorpions, spiders, roaches, silverfish... centipedes. *shutters* |

Its actually really ungraphic compared to other species. They 'hug' their tails together. The end. The issue with kings (and why I am hesitant to start them) is they are cannibals. They eat other snakes (regardless of species. Copperheads, rattlesnakes, other kings, ect... / the venomous snakes can't kill them cause they are immune to their venom). If you leave them in the same tank too long, you are gonna come back to one snake. |

He looks so awesome! I wish Bazooka, our snake at work, wasn't so squirrely and had been handled more. He likes to strike so no one ever does much with him. I'd be a little hesitant about breeding King snakes too. You'd hate to come back to only one of you babies in the tank. :s Good luck with King Leonardo! |

That's so cool, I've always wanted to get into owning a snake but my dogs keep me way too busy :P |

I think you should give it a try! If it doesn't work out send it my way. ;) Some people recommend starting with Pythons (one of the most docile snakes), but I would recommend a Kingsnake, Cornsnake or a Milksnake from a PROPER breeder (none of those petstore things). Most of the time captiveborn snakes from breeders are a lot tamer than what you will find in big chain petstores like petsmart and petco. I like those three cause they stay relatively small (3-6 feet)vs the 6-10 feet pythons and boas can get. |
