This post is more just kind of a thought I had tonight, but if people got onboard with it I might actually consider committing to it. On Horseland I remember seeing these "Clean-Up" accounts that would just buy up pixels from the Humane Association, and then would either sell them to the highest bidder or would just delete them. I remember hearing quite a few people - including myself - pretty peeved about those accounts because they lost the animals they worked hard on. I also remember new players being unhappy because they couldn't afford some of the prices on the horses they wanted. So, wanting to save that agony to both current breeders and new players, I was thinking of introducing the the Lucky Pixel Project to HP!

What is the Lucky Pixel Project?

The LPP is pen to anyone willing to volunteer on HP, including basic players. The members would then take the animals they choose to their account to look through. The specialty of what they take in and the amount they can/want to take in is entirely up to them. They would then look over the animals and would then categorize them by the following labels: Deletion Horses, Re-Homes, and Lined Horses.

Horses that are labelled for Deletion are namely those that are completely useless to players, such as horses at retirement age or geldings. Overbred horses with 10 offspring or inbred within several generations would also be deleted. These cannot be purchased at any time unless they are breeder-lined horses. Horses that are labelled for Re-Home would be horses that are under 21 years of age, can be bred and shown, and may have some points of them. They are open for public bidding.  Horses that are labelled as lined are horses that currently have a pedigree to some extent. The previous owner's ID # would be written down before purchase and we would see when they were last active; if their log-on was recent and their horses are fairly young, we would attempt to return these horses or dogs back to their rightful owners. If they appear to have quit or no longer want the breed anymore, they would then be shifted to the re-home category.

How Would the Re-Homing Process Work?

Horses that are listed under the category of re-homing would be all set for public bid, players would then bid the price they believe the current animal is worth given their current status; all sales will generally be a first come, first serve basis to the first bidder. If you see a horse that you really would like to grab, you may message me on my main account with the horse's name & ID# and I will reserve them for you to pick them up. Horses that are lined would go only to the previous owner, and all transactions would be free.

This is probably a stupid and pointless idea that came into my head, but I thought I'd suggest it anyway :P

People already buy any pixels worth buying from the HA. Mostly they just keep them on their retirement accounts, like I do with PFL Thoroughbreds. I've thought of reviving the lines, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. In any case, I won't delete them because there's some value there. As for the cases that would only be worth deleting, well we can either buy them from the HA and do just that; or save the money and just leave them there. As for the ones that can be salvaged, I don't think an 18 year-old horse with 500k is worth it. I'm better off just buying store horses.

That said, this is just me, individuals can do as they please. I just feel like they'd do it alone, on their terms.
