Submit your mascot backstories here! They are due by 3/17 and if you don't submit one by then, you will be disqualified. If you have multiple mascot entries, please submit a separate reply for each one. Remember, you don't have to write it yourself (you can ask a friend or pay someone else on HP to do it), but it does have to be a unique story about your mascot!

Golden rays of the dying sun danced through the dust caught in the gentle breeze, sending small ripples over the stream. The beautiful end of a day he never thought he would live to see. He picked his way down the rocks to the water's edge, bowing until his lips met the cool, glittering water and drank eagerly. Stepping back to study his reflection. His journey had left him ragged, hardly more than sheer grit holding scavenged scraps to his nearly skeletal frame. And yet he had never felt more beautiful. More powerful. Than he did standing tall on needle-thin legs still marred by the unforgiving desert wind. Eyes sunken. Scars he would bear forever.

But he had survived.

If only she had been here with him, at his side, to see him now. She was the one that had dragged him from that Mile Deep Hollow. Who shielded him from his inner demons, who showed him how to love. Not just others, but himself. Who had given him the tools to undertake this hero's journey. To throw off the shackles of his past, his fear, and take those first, uneasy steps forward on the path of recovery and self discovery. Guiding him home through the haunted labyrinth of his own mind. Her sacrifice would not be in vain. Her death kindled the flames in which he was reforged and reborn. His eyes turned towards the stars as they slowly emerged, their brilliance in their dying light reminiscent of her last moments. That look of pride forever frozen in time, knowing that her sacrifice would free him once and for all from the chains he had become so hopelessly ensnared in. He knew he would always have that stardust, as the day gave in to the beauty of the night, to remind him of her. Watching over him. Never truly far. Never truly gone.
