So, last night, Tatu and I finally sat down to book our summer trip to Montreal. I wish I could visit my family more often, but this is life... ANYWAY. Flights are ridiculously expensive after that Boeing crashed and it was all over the news. Literally every (major) airline wanted minimum 1400€ for a Oulu-Montreal return trip. Tatu suggested looking at smaller airlines, like Norwegian (we love Norwegian btw), and doing a stopover somewhere cool. We've both wanted to go to Iceland for forever, especially me, so we ended up with a flight from Helsinki to Reykjavik (stop in Oslo) on July 7th! I'M SO EXCITED! I even booked the hotel already xD

Fun fact: we almost ended up doing our stopover in Florida xD Neither of us have ever been to Disney World or anything like that, but Iceland just... calls to our Viking hearts lmao.

We then fly to Montreal on July 10th and we stay until August 2nd. Then it's back to Reykjavik until the 4th.

I have to plan whatever we're gonna do while in Reykjavik and I need to book transport between Helsinki and Oulu. I also need to book the hotel for the return to Reykjavik, but that can wait, unless I find some sick deal now.

Omg, that's amazing! I've considered doing the same whenever I take a trip over to Europe. I hope you have a lot of fun and I can't wait to see all the pictures you take! (:

My roommate and his girlfriend went to Iceland in March! I can ask him what he did if you want trip ideas? I think they spent 5 days there? The pictures they showed me were SO cool. 

Sooooo you need to find a place and ride some Icelandic Horses and do the tolt! I hear it's quite fun!

I'm currently looking at tour options and having a difficult time picking xD Like there are 2 different riding tours and one is more expensive for a good reason, and the more I think about it, the more I think it's actually a superb deal. Did you know you can bring horse gear from outside Iceland, but it must be disinfected before use? Reminds me of how they have a law that, if an Icelandic horse is exported, it's never allowed back in.

That is very interesting, I wonder why that is about the horse gear!  And even more weird about if you export a horse, it can't be let back in.  Verrrry curious!

Vida, this is how they've kept diseases out of the breed. As for the gear, it's obviously come into contact with other horses, so it needs to be washed. On the riding tour site I was looking at, it said to wash at 40C or dry clean. Can't remember what sort of disinfecting would be suitable, though. In any case, I don't have any riding gear, and even if I did, I wouldn't bring mine. The company provides helmets, so I just need a closed shoe.
