Breed Spotlight: Swiss Warmbloods

About Swiss Warmbloods

Swiss Warmbloods are also called Einsiedlers, and they have been around since the 10th century. They are fairly rare these days because Sweden disbanded its calvary after WWII and got rid of all but 500 horses from their stock. Today, they are mainly used for riding but they still make ideal calvary horses. Stallions are tested at jumping, driving, cross country, and dressage before they are approved for breeding.

Swiss Warmbloods can be any color but they may not have pinto or appaloosa markings.

The Swiss Warmblood, a.k.a. Einsiedlers, were developed in the Benedictine Abbot/Monastery of Einsiedeln in Switzerland from the native Schwyer Stock. The ancestors of the Swiss Warmblood, a.k.a. Einsiedler, are the Anglo-Norman horse, Yorkshire Coach horse and Holsteiners.

Don't you mean Switzerland (not Sweden) disbanded their military after WWII?
