Popular breed VS little to no breeders

I have been going through the breed lists for dogs and horses. I am trying to decided what to breed and what not to breed. I like the challenge of breeding animals that have little to no other "competition" becuase you don't have anyone to say get a foal from or anything like that. What is everyone else's oppinions? Would you rather breed animals that have other players breeding them so you can constantly see how others are doing and bring other lines into yours or Do you like breeding animals with little to know interest in them? Was just thinking about this and thought I would see what others thought about it? |

I honestly went with what my favorite breeds are when I was deciding on what to train and breed. A couple are popular breeds and a couple aren't that popular. It's nice to have backups to sell to players of the popular breeds though! xD |

Back in the day I was very "pro" rare breeds. I'm not one to spend money on shows and tickets so I didn't like the competition for the highest pointed animals. But now a days I really don't care. I just go with what breeds are exciting me these days. |

I just do my favorite breeds no matter how many other breeders there are. It would be nice if the breeds I'm interested in had more popularity, but at the same time it's kind of nice that they don't. |

When I played I like to have a little of everything on the scales, mostly based on my personal interest. It's fun to have a breed that you can share lines with people, it's lonely being the only breeder. I liked the more rare guys as well though because when I sunk a ton of money into them they generally stayed "best of breed" longer due to less competition. Like, looking at my Abaco Barbs, the whole first page of highest pointed are mine and I haven't actively played for years haha |

I tend to have a thing for rare breeds, even when I try to join a popular breed for some reason they seem to turn rare (silver foxes for example) or I can't seem to find inspiration for doing them most of the time. Right now my Holsts are probably the only breed with more than myself and another breeder. On the choosing the rare breed note, most just happen to be breeds that I like. |

Rare breeds for the win! With that being said, once I see a rare breed, I google it and learn about it, see if it's something I could grow to love. If the answer's no, I won't touch it. But if it's adorable, or something else about it catches my eye, I go for it. I like not having to compete with anyone but myself. |

I have a bit of both. This way I can profit from backup sales and/or stud fees, but also just do my own thing and not worry if there are other breeders or not. However, it is nice when people get interested in rare breed I have :) |

i myself could only stick with one breed and it might be bc it was the first horse breed i ever owned irl and it happened to be an unpopular breed here and i'm perfevtly ok with that. i just trained my last two who retired with 7 mill point each and gave me a 500k point born baby. the two are the first and second highest pointed of the breed and i'm super happy with that. |
