Hello!

We have some unfortunate news, again. We had someone this past evening we suspected was poking around on HP again maliciously, so while we were talking to the server company we asked them to upload a copy of our database just in case and they accidentally overwrote our live database :(. Unfortunately, once that happens we can't get the data back.

This was an honest mistake, and there's not anything we could have done to prevent it. This means that anything that was done yesterday (9/11) was erased. The admins will discuss compensation for players tomorrow, but for the most part anything that you did yesterday you should be able to re-do again today.

I know this has been super inconvenient for everyone, and I just want to reiterate that we are doing our absolute best to protect HP and all of you. I've been on the phone with the server company for about 4 hours so far tonight, and our developer has bent over backwards (including staying up tonight and all night during the hack) to make sure we are protected.

I'm truly sorry anything malicious keeps happening, but please know that we are working on it and doing our best. We have made more changes to the code, and will continue to do so throughout the week to further protect the site. And we, along with the server company, are diligently monitoring the situation, and we hope that you will be patient with us in the meantime.

Right now we have temporarily closed registration and closed the forums to the public. If you need to make a new account in the meantime, you can message me and I can create one manually for you!

However, in good news, I am still planning to run bingo tomorrow at 2 pm! Cards are 500k, limit of 1 per person, and you can send the HPD to #666 and then message me on account #1 for a card.

I also want to recommend changing pay pal passwords... I only use mine to pay for upgrades here and someone logged into mine last night (well early this morning) that wasn't me. No account activity so far, but just a word of caution to others!

Yama, That is likely not related to here unless you use the same email and password for your HP and Paypal accounts. But its a good warning either way! 

I don't know how it works! hehe 

And someone tried to reset my facebook password, too. Ugh. People need to leave other people's stuff alone.

It’s always a good idea to use secure passwords on all sites, not reuse passwords, and rotate passwords on important sites regularly. Someone trying to log into those accounts is more than likely not related to any of the hacks that have happened on HP. We don’t have access to or store any of your personal information besides your email address (we don’t store any payment information or even have the ability to see it, and HP’s server never sees real names or addresses - that all stays on PayPal and if someone were to get them it would be because they hacked PayPal themselves, unrelated to us), and HP passwords are encrypted now so no one (not even me) can see them. When you upgrade on HP, it re-directs you to PayPal and you put all of the information in there, and then you have to come back to HP. The only information we ever get from PayPal on HP is a unique/random transaction ID to confirm to the game that you paid :). So someone logging into your PayPal wouldn't be related to HP in the sense that we get information when you upgrade with us, if that makes sense?

But it’s never a bad idea to be careful and change passwords regularly, after all of the HUGE data breaches over the last few years, it’s likely that most people’s common email and password combos are floating around on lists on hacker sites, waiting for someone to poke into them. As an example, months ago I had someone get into my Netflix and Hulu out of nowhere even though I’ve never shared the password. Which was well before the HP hack, it’s unfortunately just something that happens a lot more frequently these days :(. I hope that makes you feel better!
