Does anyone else here participate in a food co-op?

Sometimes I use Bountiful Baskets (http://bountifulbaskets.org) which you pay $15 and you get 5 pounds of fruit and 5 pounds of veggies (it ends up being A TON of food, and really nice quality), and then you can pay more to get all organic or add other things on like bread and more fruit or different packages (like I'm getting the guac. pack this week with avacados, jalapenos, lemons/limes and someother stuff).

But I'm sure there are others out there too!

I love it because it's a bunch of produce for cheap which is always nice when you're trying to eat healthier.

Got my basket this week. I paid $29 ($15 for the main basket which is half fruits and half veggies), $8.50 for a guac. pack, and $5.50 for the handling fee. And I got 2 mangos, 3 pomelos, 7 bananas, a pineapple, 7 gala apples, 3 big lemons, 6 avocados, 2 heads of garlic, a bunch of cilantro, a bunch of green onions, a yellow onion, broccoli, 2 heads of cauliflower, a head of romaine lettuce, 6 jalapeños, 14 hatch chilies, 5 on the vine tomatoes, 3 parsnips, I carrot, and 4 green bell peppers.

It's all really nice quality too. As good as, if not better than, if I got it in a grocery store. Plus way, way cheaper. I don't even know what this all would have cost me at the supermarket.

We used to get this too!

It was through Aussie farmers direct and you could order milk and cheese and meat and all these packs of stuff. It was so good! their produce was allways utterly amazing and I really enjoyed eating/making things I usually wouldn't (so I don't generally cook with zucchini.. but I had two and found an amazing recipe, now I eat them loads! :))

Love the fruits and vegis :)

I would love to do this of I could find one in urban southeast Michigan... Though at this point it's probably just apples. Apples. Apples. Corn. Pumpkin. Apples...

I just want to note that I stopped ordering from Bountiful Baskets because the quality went way downhill. A lot of the fruit came unripe and then rotted before it got ripe, so it's just cheaper to buy from the grocery store since you don't end up throwing a lot of it away.
