So in November it'll be a year since Sam passed. I'm wanting to get a tattoo in his memory, but I don't know what I want...what style, what I want it to look like, etc. 

I know I don't want it to be cheesy. Nor do I want it to have his dates or anything. Maybe not even his name. Just a horse. 

Anyone have a horse commemorative tattoo I could see? Everything I've seen in my searching for style doesn't feel "right".

I know you dont want dates, but perhaps a star pattern on your body to represent the day that he left you? That sounda vague, maybe the star constellation for horse, and then add on to it if you need to?

I've always wanted to get an Indian War Horse tattoo - but just never committed to it. I think it would be awesome to get a tribute tattoo to Sam as he was such a large part of your life! 

I came across these tattoos while looking for inspiration for my ink and thought of this thread - you could use "flower language" to substitute a variety of flower/plant that means "remembrance" (poppies, pink carnations, rosemary, pansies, forget-me-nots, etc.) 

Do you have one of his shoes, or maybe a picture of his foot? Maybe you could have someone draw something up for you with his "hoofprint" and some other details?

I saw a beautiful portrait tattoo once, but unfortunately I do not have a picture of it! This woman that had lost her horse had an artist draw a realistic portrait of her horse within a dreamcatcher (I believe that was the horse's name), but it was absolutely gorgeous and tastefully done! Black ink, no color, with very intricate details!

If you aren't 100% sure, I suggest contacting the tattoo artist you think you would use, explaining what the Tattoo means, and let them design it.

Honestly, that is 90% of what makes a good tattoo artist!
