I swear i'm done going through birds.

It breaks my heart, but it has not worked out with Teddy. I raised him, but it just did not happen for us. He spent every second that he was with me just screaming at me and trying to bite me (he got me good a couple of times) except when I was feeding him. After he was done eating he'd be back to trying to maul me.

After losing Sam, this was definitely not the kind of relationship I was looking for, and because i've been missing Sam so damn much all I wanted was to bond with this bird and start creating memories, but I can't because he hates me, and it was crushing me. I've broken down a couple of times because he's just screamed at me constantly and bit me and I just don't know what he wants or why he hates me so much lol. I've tried to let him get it out and see if he grows out of it but it's not getting any better, so i'd rather do something about it now and prevent damaging either of us any further.

So I got in touch with a local breeder (I drove 8 hours round trip to pick teddy up x_x) and she met with me and Teddy today. He seemed to really like her, and didn't scream at her or try to bite her a single time. So she agreed to take him, and in exchange, she has an 18 week old boy that I can bring home tomorrow if we get on ok when I meet him.

She took Teddy this morning, and this is the first evening i've had in almost 2 months without him screaming at me non-stop until I put him away in the spare room to sleep.

So assuming it goes well tomorrow, this will be my new baby. I am going to keep this baby glued to me I fucking swear because I can't go through all this again lol.

His name is Echo but the breeder said it doesn't suit him very well so I may end up changing it, I don't know yet.

Gosh, I had no idea it was that bad with Teddy :( I really hope Echo - or whatever you change his name to - ends up loving you immensely ♥

I was hoping that's all it was too in the beginning, i've had other breeders tell me they've had babies like him and they get out of it pretty quickly, but it just went from bad to worse with Teddy and it got to the point where I dreaded spending any time with him because all he would do is scream at me and bite me. I gave it everything I had lol but I was really starting to break and I wasn't coping so I decided it was best for both of us to find him a home with someone he at least likes a little bit lol.
Kerrie sent me a text a couple of hours ago and said he's settling really well, he has been hanging out with her, her husband and their 3 other Eclectus parrots in the living room all evening, lapping up the cuddles and attention and hasn't made a peep except for when he was getting hungry. He seems genuinely happy and while i'm sad it didn't work out for us, I am very, very glad he is happy finally.

We are going to keep eachother updated with photos and info about the boys as they grow up which I am really pleased about, because I would love to see Teddy thrive and see what a gorgeous boy he grows up to be. It kind of works out perfectly because they're almost the same age lol.

I'm so sorry that had to happen, ash! :( I'm glad you were able to find him a home where he seems happier now, at least! And that you were able to find Echo!!!

Well we're home. I looooove him. He's still noisy because he's a baby, but he's got NOTHING on Teddy lmao. He will call if he can hear me, but stops when I answer him, because he just wants to know i'm still around. He'll call when he's pissed about something and if he's hungry (he eats a TON) but it's not obnoxiously loud and it's not constant. It's normal lmao. AND HE DOESN'T BITE ME! That's refreshing lol.

I'll post more photos later when he's had a chance to eat and sleep for a bit, it's been a big day for him. Right now he's snacking on dried fruit and nuts while I RDR lol (something I absolutely couldn't do with Teddy)



I'm a little bit in love

It probably sounds a little over dramatic but I actually cried a little before because of how peaceful this is. You don't realize how much something is affecting you until it stops

Echo is settling in tremendously. He rules the house now lol. HE EATS SO MUCH holy crap. It's terrific though because he will try ANYTHING, which is going to be extra good when I finally get around to making more chop. He devours whatever I put in front of him lol.
