Howdy! I'd love to have this breed on here, as they're amazing horses!! And, as someone pointed out, American Curly Horses maybe their own separate breed.

There are currently 4 supporters. :D

Are they not the same as the Bashkir Curlies? Because we've got those!

Ooh this was fun mini research. So the Bashkir Curly may not technically exist :D Genetic research suggests that the Bashkir Horse and the Curly Horse are two separate breeds, and the Bashkir horse was most likely not an ancestor of the Curly horse.


Therefore, the Curly horse should probably be called the American Curly Horse, or just plain Curly Horse. The Bashkir Horse is already its own breed (and is Russian, so is probably the Russian Curly you're thinking of Fleur).

i delved into some research with a friend a while back - the genetic history is really interesting but i don't have it on hand. there are a few ancestors - it's really quite cool! i'd breed them

found some info on lines of stock type american curlies. it looks like there are stock types, warmblood types, and morab types. there's one for everyone!  http://curlyhorses.com/badwarriorarticle01.htm
