hi all! I'm a long time betta owner (my fishies average 3-4 years each) and my current betta is around a year old at this point. he's been doing wonderfully, always happy and curious, but suddenly it looks like his fins have blown out and for the life of me I cannot figure out why. I've never had this issue with any of my past fish. he's a halfmoon betta and has fairly large fins that have torn in two different places. has anyone else experienced this and what have you done to help them heal?

I have a betta, but only had him about 6 months, so I don't really have any suggestions. :( I hope he gets better!

Not got one nor do I know anything about them but another Fishee owner. For my birthday last month I got diamond neon tetra and 4 bumblebee catfish.

Could it be fin rot?

I was thinking fin rot as well Tifi, atleast that's what it sounds like (my old betta had it). IF it is, I used Bettafix and it cleared it up :)

I hope whatever it is isn't too serious for the little guy!

I can see new fin growth coming in! Still unsure as to what caused the fin rot, but he's on his way to recovery :)

I own one Black, blue and red Plakat boi and one mustard super delta boi. Before i've owned two other bettas. So if you need any suggestions or help on bettas, let me know! There is lots I know and can help with!

P.S DO NOT USE BETTA FIX. It actually causes more injury as its not made for the lybrinth in the betta. I would suggest actually for fin rot just daily 50% water changes. Usually that does the trick. Clean water heals a lot of stuff in bettas as its the cause of most injuries or illness (dirty water). I also use stressguard when my bettas get injured as it promotes healing and helps keep the betta not stressed.
