On the mailbox pages and search result pages, it would be easier to read (I think) if the rows either had alternating colors OR changed to a different background when you hovered over them.

I keep counting on the mailbox page to be sure I am deleting the right message.  The entries on the search pages can be diffiult to read, too, if your search returns a lot of entries.  This is just a simple little CSS fix that would be nifty to see.

I like this idea, I always find myself afraid of deleting a message I need, or deleting too far down, especially when it comes to deleting private show requests. :]

I think this is a good idea as well.  I get a lot of messages in my inbox, and this would make deleting them much easier.
