What's the best way to promote a breed?

Alright, as someone who is use to breeding rare breeds how would I go about in promoting a breed to get more breeders? It seems like whenever I join a medium breed (not insanely popular, but has a good amount of breeders) it starts to lose breeders and it might just be a coincidence, but it's has happened twice so far...

What are some ways that you guys have promoted your breeds?

Become a breed ambassador, and start a thread in the forums? Do contests revolving around the breed, give incentives to breed, etc.

Mango just did a really awesome contest revolving Akita's ! She did a great job bringing awareness to the breed.

Run for Breed Ambassadors United Club Presidency! This is another way to spotlight your breed! (or you could run for a horse or dog club that fits and spotlight your breed for that month!)

You can also make a post on the advertising chat page or in the forums!

Mango's probably a good person to ask. Between the akita training contest, and slowly getting the entire game to breed knabs.... lol!

Lmao aw bless xD

Well, for one I definitely drop in every "HALP I NEED A BREED" thread I can and throw out reasons why Knabs/Akitas are an awesome breed to check out. That way, people have some cool info right away instead of having to google an interesting looking breed name. Keep it brief so it isn't an intimidating wall of text, but you can also include some interesting details that maybe won't show up right away on a google search (like the fact that there are three different types of Knabstruppers - a pony type, sporthorse type, and the original baroque type OR that knabs are known for their full-body leopard appaloosa markings but can actually display any appaloosa type markings or none at all).

Becoming a breed ambassador is a great way to get your breed listed in the official Community > Breed Embassies page and add some legitimacy to your efforts to popularize the breed. Of course, you don't have to be breed ambassador to do any of these things, but it does help players recognize that you know what you're talking about ^^ Becoming a breed ambassador also allows you access to that exclusive Breed Embassies board in the forum, and there you have an official place to gush about the breed, why it's awesome, why people should breed it, and what you can do to help them out :D

Contests are definitely a great way to bring attention to the breed! A training contest limited to that breed specifically with some prizes for multiple places can be a good way to get some breeders, even if only for the duration of the contest. And you might even snag some permanent breeders along the way. You don't have to be a breed ambassador to do it, but having that exclusive thread that's pretty much reserved for the breed would def be a plus over having to keep a contest thread alive in the Contest board.

Like Sat said, becoming club president is also a way to legitimize any contests you might want to hold and to bring a spotlight to your breed!

Thank you all for the comments and possible ideas on how to promote a breed, especially Mango's lovely description. I now have some things I can now brain storm on and hopefully come up with a plausible but not crazy way to promote.

Also I see a lot of players selling "starter pairs" do those actually succeed in helping a breed out or is it easier with back up pairs?
