2020 Mascot Contest

It's time again for our big, massive mascot contest! It's part training contest, part mascot contest, and a whole lot of fun and competitiveness.

We made quite a few changes this year to the prizes, rules, and structure of the contest, so even if you're a seasoned mascot expert make sure you read everything carefully ;). As a short run-down:

• We're extending the timeline of the contest, so you'll have 6 weeks to plan before the contest starts and 8 weeks to train!

• You'll need to make sure your mascot has a color, height, and brand.

• There are THREE NEW BONUS PRIZES!

• All mini challenges have been posted ahead of time.

As always, we hope that this contest will continue to bring everyone together as a community of breeders and players (as this will produce some awesome animals), and also help to boost the sales of tickets, shows, and graphics on the game.

In this contest participants will start with a horse or dog that has just turned to showable age (we will have a grand prize winner and a runner up for each species and category, you can see the full prize list here), and the goal will be to train it to the highest possible points in an 8 week period.

In addition to the training, animals must also have a creative name, a unique, quality image (can be custom-made or a pre-made but it MUST be unique to that animal), and an awesome backstory. As always, we will have one category in each species for people who are using tickets and shows, and one category in each species for those who are not. Participants can participate by themselves or form teams. Each individual/team will have 6 weeks to gather funds, pool resources, make plans, and get ticket/show reservations, and then 8 weeks to actually train their animal. The contest will be immediately followed by a week of voting before final scoring. You can go here to look for a team or go here to sign up!

The 2020 mascot contest sign ups start NOW, and ends Saturday February 15th. Training will begin on Sunday February 16th. You can see a list of important dates here or on the HP Calendar.

Suggestion:

There needs to be a location on where these mascots can be "showed off"

This is a big yearly deal for HP and theres no way to see past or present mascot winners.

Or do the winners not wanna be showcased anywhere?!

You think of a mascot like at a game and theyre out there before the team is. 

So why not have them featured somewhere for the whole year like on the login page or the news page or somewhere.

I like that idea! I'll work on something :). And maybe a category ranking for each of the current mascot categories.

In the meantime though, you can see all the previous winners by using the Horse and Dog Searches and searching by award, because all previous winners have awards saying how they placed, as well as all the finalists :).

Question: I'm sure this has all been figured out before, but it just occurred to me. Should there be a limit on how many shows an animal is allowed to enter per week based on upgraded accounts? For example, with the breed specialty and an upgraded account, an animal can enter 80 shows per week, right? Well, basic players don't have that advantage of the extra 10 shows per week, or do they? It seems to be an unfair advantage for upgraded players.
