What do you think of having a bank loans feature on HP? Like you could ask the bank for a certain amount of HPD and then it could give it to you, but you'd have to then pay it back, plus interest? And if you didn't, it could fine you or something.

It would be a good way for people doing projects, or whos upgrades are about to expire and need the money for an auction but don't have it yet to get that stuff, and then the interest when they're paid back would help inflation on the game because money would be moving out.

The way it would work is that people would have to submit an application and get it approved by an admin before it was accepted. Then every week the games would automatically deduct what they owe plus interest from their account. If they don't have the money it would send them into the negatives. But that's why we're making them admin-approved so that not just anyone could borrow billions of HPD. So, in that way it's kind of abuse-proof. But like with any feature, if it's not working, we can remove it.

Thoughts on that?

I'm not a fan of this idea actually. Granted not everyone can sell upgrades to make money, not everyone has lines that people want babies from (if you're animals aren't high pointed or if there's not a market there's nothing you can do to sell a foal or pup), and not everyone can do graphics. I understand it CAN be hard to make money on the game but I also don't like the idea of loans.

I can see where if there's a safety net where the admin's review a person before accepting the loan they can look to see what service's the player can provide, what they're looking to use the loan for, and how much they already have but here's the thing. If they're using it for a project they're not going to be able to pay it back for quite a while ayways, projects don't just last a week or two they last until the animal retires. If they're using it for an upgrade they could probably pay it back almost immediately.

But how is this improving the game though? Is it really in the best interest of the players to add money back in even if it's temporary? 

Even if everyone follows the rules to the T you're basically only allowing a probably already well off player an easier way to pay to train up a high pointed animal. New players might be able to borrow enough to upgrade their account but even then you're not making any money off of it. I can see it upsetting a lot of players too because they can say you're playing favorites if you approve someone for more because we don't see what goes on behind the scenes. Not that anyone of our admin would but still.

The only fair way to do it would to make it almost automated so that players that have been playing since X date have have X amount of money get approved for X loan. Even then, I still think it's going to create more of a finacial gap between players. I would be pretty upset if I was one of the players that saved for years and spent billions on a project only to have it "beaten" by someone's loan project animal.

I agree with Trig. If the HP loan came to effect the game would just be too easy. If someone takes a loan what will keep them from using a totally different account to avoid paying it back? However if it does go into effect will you have the player list all their accounts that way if something happens all the accounts will be penalized?

im not a big fan of this either....alot of players have put alot of work into getting what they have....

wheres the fun in the game of earning with free money lurking about...

even if there is a cap or applications....that still doesnt make it fair....people with more money get more money?! just to pay back interest?!

if it does get added ill probably never use it....

I agree with Trig 100%. I am definitely not a fan of this (I am also not a fan of loans in RL either). I would be a very unhappy camper if this was added, simply because like Trig said, eventually I would probably end up having to use it. I would probably quit the game if it came to that, though. I refuse to take out loans just to be able to continue playing a game.

Besides, earning a significant amount money, having high pointed animals etc. takes time, we all started at the bottom and gradually worked our way up. Those who want to be successful on here can be if they are dedicated. You don't start out with everything; otherwise, what's the point of playing?

I think this is the perfect point. People up to now, without loans, have spent a lot of time working and planning for what they want on the game. Loans would absolutely make things easier and let things happen a lot faster but what about the people who have spent years since the game opened working to have amazing animals, working to upgrade their accounts. People have saved and manged to do projects and buy upgrades without loans so why put them in now? I know personally that if I had an animal that I'd saved for and worked hard to make one of the best of it's breed, and potentially on the game, I would be extremely upset if someone just, on a whim, took out a loan to do a project. A lot of these project animals have meaning to the player that did them. Some are named after the player's rl animal, some have just come from generatons and generations of hard work and dedication. I don't think it would be fair to just have someone surpass that without really working for it.

I think having loans on HP would be downright silly and take away from the fun and challenge of the game itself. If anything, offer HPD for USD. That would be better than loans. I personally am not a fan of the whole loan idea, not in the slightest. I'd probably never use it and see it as pointless to have given the good, valid arguments others have already made against it.
