I'm just curious if there would be much interest in layout generators to create layouts like my own.  I have a site to host it on and can write it all up, but it is a little bit of work and I want to be sure it would be used before doing it.

There would be no selling of the generated code, altered or otherwise, of course.

It's a nice simple clean layout format and I am sure plenty of people would love to use it.  However, I don't see how you are going to go about not allowing the selling of your generated code.  Plenty of players sell coding from HP Toxic scribble.

I'm with that. A lot of people depend on toxic scribble, like myself. I'd love an up to date one but... I'd still want to be able to continue offering layouts with it...

To me the whole purpose of a generator is you can make your own layout, instead of having to buy it from somebody.  If players are going to use it to make and sell layouts, though, then I'm just giving away jobs I could be making money on.  :/  I'd love to offer this as a totally non-profit kind of thing, just something to give back to the community, but it sounds like everybody would just use it as a way to sell layouts.

Unfortunately, that's kind of the sucky thing with coding, since you can't stop people from taking it :(.

You could always charge people HPD or something to use the generator for selling purposes?

I would totally pay a handsome fee to like "buy the license" to use the generator to sell.

Ditto Chao. I would happily use it for myself but I would also happily pay whatever I'd need to be able to sell layouts with it. I suck entirely at coding on my own :P

I have used Toxic Scribble in the past and I was trying to find it again to code a new layout but was having trouble. Is it still available out in internet world for use?

You could have a log in generated from you to give out to people once they pay the HPD to use it--kind of like a royalty thing. That way people who dont pay the fee have no way of accessing the generator, and those who do pay the fee (on a monthly basis or something) have the rights to use the code. If they want to sell the code the fee could be higher or something.

Atra - I don't see this happening anytime soon as Riddle has been gone since April.  I wish she would come back!  She was a pretty cool cat! :P
