Ephe : Imagine a young Saturnia sitting at the kitchen table with about 12 different cups of dye infront of her and multiple hardboiled eggs. My dad and uncle were crazy over it and one Easter decided to hide it from one another. My dad hid it in the trunk of the car and my uncle found it, then he hid it in my grandpa's tool shed. Everytime it was hidden the other would find it. My dad took it pan and all and placed it in the crook of the birch tree. My uncle searched everywhere for the cheesecake. Shortly thereafter my grandma came into the house mad as all get out. The birds had found the cheesecake in the tree and were eating all of it. She tried to shoo them away but a rather large crow dropped its sampling of cake right square in her face. She was not a happy camper. One of the main reasons is the hunt that we have for chocolate eggs! This Easter though, the egg hunt was a little strange... It was as strange as ___a goat_________ (farm animal) ____jumping________ (verb) towards a _________ (synonym for “big”) ____gigantic round hay bale_________ (object that has a circle shape)! I was in the park with __Prescott_____ (friend's name), and we were hunting for eggs. We came across a tree that was shaped like __Abraham Lincoln_____ (any American president), and decided to climb up it. As we climbed further up, we noticed the branches were __purple_____ (color) with __green_____ (another color) spots! When we looked up, we could see something shiny sitting on a branch. We hoped it was a chocolate egg! The higher we got, the more we hoped we would find a chocolate treat. After climbing for what felt like __months_____ (an amount of time – hours, days, weeks, months or years), we reached the shiny object. But when I was maybe 9, (This was the last Easter I celebrated) my grandmother was putting dollars (We got lucky this year) in plastic eggs, and if we were super lucky, it'd be $1.50. since many kids in my family were participating at my aunt's annual family egg hunt, she had my other aunts and cousins donate dollars to put in eggs. So after she put all the eggs around the yard, she sent the kids (including me and my siblings) off to look for the eggs. After gathering a decent amount of eggs, I saw a see through plastic egg in a tree that my older cousin had placed there. Of course I was young, and the tree eggs were for the older kids. But I saw something weird in the egg. It looked to be $20 bill lol. I climbed that tree, getting all cut up and ended up $20 and a sprained ankle. Turns out that egg was an accident (There was a mistake and someone accidentally put in $20 to the pile and no one noticed) but got to I keep my money! A few years back, or maybe like 10, there used to be a show on TV about really redneck weddings. So we were watching the show a little prior to Easter and saw an episode where during the wedding they took an old mattress, hooked it up to the back of their ATV and pulled the guests around a field; calling if of course mattress surfing. So this was pretty funny and of course it had rained prior to that so our field was just a slick muddy mess. So instead of Sunday Best attire we told our family members to dress in dirty clothes, hooked a mattress up to our ATV and dragged them around the field. Most were horrible at it, including myself, but it was a muddy mess with zero injuries! We still talk to it about this day as the best, and most redneck, Easter ever. Ephe: This isn’t the funniest thing ever, but it’s a true story and it made me laugh. The week before Easter my family decided to color easter eggs! Now, this made us nervous for a few reasons. One, neither my husband or myself have colored eggs since we were kids. And two, our son has a sensory processing disorder, and one of the consequences of that for him is he can’t stand having things on his hands (like marker, or, we were thinking, egg dye). Well, imagine our surprise once we had the dye mixed up (and trust me, my son definitely “helped” stir it up. My poor table, omg), we handed him an egg (something else he was excited about, since I don’t trust him with a regular egg but hardboiled is fine lol), and he just plunked it right into the dye! He literally had no problems with it. He rolled them around in the colors, he switched them up to different ones. I laughed myself silly.

Ephi: When I was little, one Easter we were celebrating Easter (and birthdays!) at my grandparents' place with all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We live 5 hours from them so at the time were only seeing them maybe 3 times a year. I was maybe 9, and my cousin's 3 years older than me and at the time I had total idol worship as most kids do to their older cousins. Her and I were playing outside and my younger brother (3 years younger) kept trying to play with us which was a "hell no" in my books at the time, so I told him to go stick his hand in the birthday cake. He was always really fresh, but for some reason, Easter was always his shining moment, and he ALWAYS ruined his Easter suit. One year, him and his brother went in their grandma's bathroom and covered themselves in vaseline, then poured baby powder on themselves (he swears this was his brother's idea.) Another year they were playing ball in the front yard, and their ball went under a car. He followed it under. When he came out his suit was torn up and covered in grease. Another year he "weeded" his grandfather's garden. He managed to pull out over 100 tomato plants that his grandpa had just planted a week earlier. I had a Littlest Pet Shop kitty and I noticed my sister also had a Littlest Pet Shop Puppy so I went and woke her up so we could open them and play together. She was not very fond of me that day as she is older and likes her sleep. I still have the kitty and puppy in my collection now. (Although I was more popular than the year I found my sister had drums for Christmas and let her know that by playing them VERY early. It may have been due to me that my dad used to sleep outside the living room door to stop us getting up too early xD). Points to horse 332811 |
