What the title says: What was your favorite book as a child?

Define "child" as you please, but I think mine was probably the "Narnia" books!

The Percy Jackson series!  I've read some of those books at least a dozen times from elementary school to college.  And out of all the books I own they are still the most important to me!

When I was very very young, I LOVED the Geronimo Stilton mystery books! https://www.target.com/p/geronimo-stilton-38-a-fabumouse-school-adventure-paperback/-/A-11537666?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Entertainment+Shopping&adgroup=SC_Entertainment&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=1026952&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI967Krrvj6QIVUb7ACh3YdAcFEAYYAyABEgJXp_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Then once I got a bit older - my favorite book became The Perks of Being a Wallflower. My brother gave it to me after he had read it. Between the both of us sharing it back and forth, we read it so much that the cover fell off and the binding broke from us holding it and reading it so much. I have the new movie edition copy now. But everytime I read that book - I get something new from it.

Being from Northern Ireland, the birthplace of C.S. Lewis, Narnia is "in my blood". I used to watch the B.B.C. television series every Sunday, and had (and still have) all the books.

I also loved the series of stories about a little boy called Alfie, written by Shirley Hughes. My fave was Dogger

Then there were the Roald Dahl and Tove Jansson books, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, the Mr. Men books by Roger Hargreaves, and the Miffy series by Bruna.

I had so many of Enid Blyton's books and loved reading about fairies and goblins and witches, the wishing chair, famous five and secret seven.

The Saddle Club and the Babysitters club were favourites.

I used to keep checking Alana: The First Adventure series out of the library.

Heartland books and Half Moon Ranch.

Any books by Pulltein-Thompson family.

My sister went to Edinburgh zoo and came back with a big hardbook of animal stories - very short stories where they all spoke etc and I spent hours pouring over it.

The Shantih and Jinny series was a favourite as was Jilly by Ruby Ferguson.

Sorry, I really can't choose a favourite as I read so many - I used to go to the library every couple of days and get 10 books out at a time xD

How did I miss this thread?!

I was obsessed with The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett when I was little. I also read (and still read) Nancy Drew. I also really liked Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. I also remember reading Native Son by Richard Wright when I was way too young and should have waited until I was many moons older.

I think books written for kids can be enjoyed at any age, especially when we no longer have the childlike mind or concept of the world. It does a big kid wonders to go back to simple stories of pleasure and remember not to take life so seriously all the time. Besides, childrens' books these days explore a lot of different issues than they did when you and I were young at the time, as well as issues that are present in today's childhoods.

My childhood list is so huge I don't know if I could put them all here.

As a younger kid: Arthur series, The Valentine Cat, Clifford series, the Berenstain Bears series, Little Critter, The Velveteen Rabbit. Rainbow Fish!

As an older kid, but still a kid: The Boxcar Childern, The Magic Treehouse, Magic School Bus, BabySitters Club, Saddle, Club, Heartland, Animal Ark, Shiloh, Wayside School,

Pre-Teen and Teen - because I got into some odd stuff as a preteen. XD: Harry Potter, Twilight, Anything Stephen King, Series of Unfortunate Event, anything Sarah Dessen, His Dark Materials, Daughters of the Moon, Sons of the Dark.

I know I am forgetting some, but that is a bit of those I loved.
