Sewing Machine Day! 

How are we going to celebrate? 

This is the day we celebrate Thomas Saint, who invented the sewing machine in 1790. Interestingly enough, even though he patented it and designed it - there was never any evidence he built an actual working model! A man by the name of William Newton Wilson became the first time to actually take Thoma Saint’s plans and build and actual functional model. 

We also need to take note of the fact that the first American lockstitch sewing machine was invented in 1832 by Walter Hunt. A man by the name of John Greenough patented the first sewing machine in the United States in 1842. 

To earn 2 Million HPD - take this week to look over things that you can make with a sewing machine. Pick out one (HP APPROPRIATE PLEASE) thing that you would absolutely adore to make yourself and share it here. This post will earn you 2 million HPD and it will be open to entries from June 7th, 2020 (A little before, actually. From the time this event was posted) to June 13th, 2020.

There are so many items I want to learn to make, but I really cannot sew - I've tried. I used to know how (I made a backpack, a pillow case, a pot holder, and a few other things in middle school), but I just can't.

Ohh Lakra! That is super smart, I didn't even think like that. Those two items right there (sewing patterns) have been on my wishlist for ages as I am super picky about purses, shows, and wallets (I cannot find anything that I like already out there for sale). I want to make a matching Nightmare Before Christmas set. XD

I haven't sewed with a machine in like, DECADES....but when I was like 7 or 8 my mom taught me how to make a little 9-patch quilt for my barbies. xD She never liked to sew but taught me just so I'd know and I didn't really pick it up either haha. We also made a skirt for me at one point. :P

So uh - fun fact about Sat - my mom owns a quilt shop! So I am very familiar with sewing machines :P
