One time we went camping, and I legit thought I had the biggest fish in the world. Turns out I snagged a nice looking log, that had a water snake on it. That was not pleasant.

Once when I was maybe 7, my dad took my brother and I camping for Father's Day weekend. At the end of our campsite there was a beer bottle on a tree stump when we got there, so when we were packing up at the end my dad told me to go get it so we could be good people and recycle it. I went to pick it up and there was a drowned mouse floating in it. I ran screaming and arm-flailing across the campsite...

My daddy used to take us camping and I remember one time we went up to the mountains and I was watching my brothers swing out on the rope swing so I decided to give it a try. The smallest of them all and when I got high out onto the water I freaked out and didn't want to let go... turns out I didn't have a choice when the rope snapped and I went in anyways xD

I'm new to the camping scene - I have 22 state parks and my goal is to take the Huskies pups to all of them. But lately Chris and I have had dreams of hitting the road - getting an RV and packing the kids (furbabies) up!

So right now, we are "practicing" with our cats on how to be carride cats. First time taking the older kitty, Chris got a little gift down the INSIDE of his shirt. Needless to say, our "trip" ended about 30 minutes early and I had one sick kitty and one VERY sick human to care for *eye roll*. 

Boys can't handle shit... literally XD

A funny camping story huh?

Well... there is one story I have. My friends and I went to a local camp ground. It's one of those busy ones, that has gravel areas and space for RV's and such. Still plenty of nature around, but not really 'roughing it' as some would say. Anyways, the first night I went into the tent to sleep, and my friends decided... they didn't want to be in the tent. They'll sleep outside. Shortly after trying to sleep, I heard a rustling near the tent. I waited for it to go away, but it didn't. Finally I sighed and called them out for shinangans. Appearently waking them up in the process.

Not entirely convinced my friends weren't just playing a joke on me, I opened the tent flap and several feet away a raccoon stared into the light. With my friend's backpack in it's little paws. xD Needless to say, the snacks she had tucked away was gone, aaand they decided suddenly that the tent was the best place to be.

XD Guess that's kinda a scary story too, but I always find it hilarous. My poor friend lamented her marshmellows, I'm about 90% certain that raccoon must have had a heck of a sugar rush. Appearently he's a well-known backpack thief.

story- spur of the moment, boyfriend and I decided to camp out we had a tent so figured thats all we needed for just one night, anyways we were in the tent and sorta sleeping when a gust of wind blew the tent away and there we sat with hardly any clothes on, sand was every where  :) never went camping again

When I was little my family went camping in the mountains, and we were having our picnic lunch.... and a bear wandered into our campsite, thinking the food smelled good. My mom grabbed me and we huddled in the truck, while my dad stood out and took pictures. Ate all the food, destroyed all the condiments, and carried the cooler off into the woods for a ways (my dad still has said cooler, scratch marks and all).

So I went camping with my family and my boyfriend at the time (now husband). It was 7am and I had just woken up, needing to pee. I made him come with me to the sand dunes and scrub (coastal Australia). There were longdrops, but there was no way I was using them. Puke. So I squatted in the dunes, thinking I was far enough away from everyone. And then I hear this family with young kids coming over the dunes to the beach. I had to dash into a bush, pants around my ankles and wait for them to pass.

Except they didn't. They stood there for about 5 minutes taking photos of the sunrise. I had to maintain that position the entire time until they moved on. Worst 5 mins of my life.

So my friends and I like to go to the lake and camp out. We tend to drink a little too many adult beverages sometimes. Well I had a few too many and went to go pee. I didn't want anyone to see me, so I went pretty far away into the bushes. Well I ended up losing track of which way was back to the campground and got lost. My boyfriend found me wandering around after what he said was 30mins of me being gone. Ooops!

I was on a riding holiday with a few other teens, at a place that had a petting farm and it was amazing. 

One night a few of us took a flashlight and went out for a walk around the enclosures to see what the animals were doing. At the far end of the farm was a hedge with an access gate to a field. I was holding the flashlight and shone the light at the gate for some reason, and we could see these weird lights shining back at us. 
We freaked out and I yelled about aliens (I was actually scared) and we ran back to the big scout tents which were our accomodation. After a few minutes, a crowd of us went out and back to the scene. We couldn't figure what the lights could have been.
Someone else had the flashlight this time, and shone the light at where the lights had been seen. As a group, we bravely moved closer and the lights were moving up and down and around. 

Turned out they were caused by the eyes of cows which reflected the flashlight's beam it caught the reflective things in their eyes, like cats and dogs have! The movement was from the cows raising and lowering their heads trying to see who we were.

I've not camped since I was very, very little but my brother went camping with a bunch of mates near a local waterfall in November and they'd been drinking (Thankfully we're in the UK so not as cold as come countries).  My mum got a concerned phone call that he had stripped off and jumped in the water and they couldn't find his clothes and he refused to come out of the water.  Me and my mum head out at midnight to a place we've not been before with tiny wind up torches.  We park at the bottom and follow the trail up meeting numerous drunken people on their way back down.  We find my brother and wrap him in a blanket we took and leave him in a tent then we go off to find his "favourite" tree that he left his clothes at.  Have you ever tried to find ONE tree among many in the pitch black with loads of drunken teenagers?  We finally found a pile of clothes and dragged my brother back home.  We threw loads of blankets on him and dumped him in his bed.  By the time we got home it was well after 1am.

Puzzle!

I haven't been camping in years so not much to remember there...so travel storytime it is!

On my way from moving out west my friends who were helping me move decided that we would stop by the Hoover Dam. It was pretty cool to see, but when we got stopped for the security checkpoint they wanted to look into the van. All my stuff packed in bins and suitcases and my cats. Well, the look on the guard's face when they opened my door to find me holding a very confused orange tabby kitty was priceless. We got the all clear as long as the kitties didn't leave the van, so all in all it was just a fun little pit stop and knowing my kitties were probably two of the few animals allowed at the Hoover Dam is pretty neat to think about. Probably made that guard's day a little better haha! xD
