December's Player of the Month!

Hope everyone is having a great start to our final month of 2020!

1. How did you first learn about us?
Like many players before me, I too used to play Horseland. When HL was changing, a friend from the HL game mentioned HP and the rest is history!

2. What is your favorite thing about HP?
The community! Everyone is so kind, caring, and supportive. I love how we lift each other up and straighten each other’s crowns.

3. How long have you been playing for?
Roughly 11 years. I have been playing off and on since October 2nd, 2009. I did take a break for school and for my first job from 2010 to August of 2016. Since then, I have been more active.

4. How did you come up with your player name?
This player name / pen-name was created back in 2004. Originally, it was going to be incorporated into a FanFiction piece that I was writing, but I simply never found the time or motivation to create that story.
The name was intended to take its origin from an ancient sword that could only be wielded by a lady warrior with a pure heart and a true need for the weapon. Should the sword be parted from its warrior, it would remain in place, rooted to the ground (think Thor's hammer) until the next worthy female warrior happened upon it and be chosen by the blade. Should the blade be parted from its warrior, but the warrior still have a need for it, she (and she alone) can call it back to herself.
Hence, Lady Sword was born...and the numerals were the year in which the name was created.

5. What is your favorite breed of horse or dog to train?
The Danish Warmblood!

6. What caused you to pick the breed(s) you train and breed?
I started training Danes on HL. At the time, I wanted a rare breed of horse to work with. Over my years on HL, I met some amazing friends from Denmark who also loved the breed. In College, they had a Danish Warmblood at the Campus Farm. His name was Junior. He quickly became a favorite and I loved hanging out with him when I had time between classes. I’ve been devoted to them ever since.

7. How do you come up with names for your animals?
All the names are from the Lord of The Rings Trilogy. Originally, I used the name generator from The Barrow Downs website. When this closed a few years ago, I have been using other various name generators and a list of names by http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/

8. What are your current goals on HP?
To make friends, to have fun, and to help when I can!
For the horses, it’s to get them as many points as possible, and represent the breed as well as I can.

9. Do you have a favorite animal? (It can be your own or another player’s you admire!)
Honestly, I love them all. It’s hard to pick a favorite! If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Amoniel; she comes from a long line of favorites, and I am hoping to hit 6 million with her.

10. Who’s your go-to graphic artist or coder? Are there any services you offer?
In no specific order! I admire the works of Lynelle, Phism, Amberellie, and Mango!
I do offer dog/horse training tickets, and sell upgrades too.

11. What is your favorite Site-Wide yearly event?
That’s a tough question! I definitely LOVE the Halloween Trick-or-Treat event. I also LOVE the Easter Egg Hunt. However, I think I most look forward to the Christmas Events! And, it’s fun to watch the Mascot contest too.

12. What other contests or activities do you usually participate in?
I love chat parties, Bingo games, the Easter Egg Hunt and Trick-or-Treating. And I love Blitz’s Christmas Word Search. I sometimes complete puzzles with the Clubs, and I enjoy naming contests too!

13. Do you have any training or breeding tips to share?
• Having a system helps!
• I number my pairs to keep me organized and prevent inbreeding.
• When I first started out, I had a “generation” chart to map out which mare should be bred to which stallion. I’m happy to share with anyone wanting help!
• I have a section on my homepage to remind me of private shows (day they run, cost, and who I buy them from).
• Enter All is an amazing feature.
• And once you have a system, try to stick with it. Anything you do becomes a habit after 6 weeks.

14. Which seasonal layout art is your favorite?
Winter for sure! Blue is my favorite color and snow is so pretty!

......Real Life & Random Questions......
1. Where are you from?
Maryland!

2. What do you do for work?
I’m in Health Care.

3. Do you own any horses or dogs?
Not currently. But one day soon, I hope to get a Golden Retriever. And I would love to have a horse of my own some-day. Maybe when I grow up?

4. Do you have any other types of pets at home?
Sadly no. I almost had a 6 foot Rainbow Python named Mint when a Medical Student was unsure of her ability to keep her.

5. What are your favorite breeds of horse and dog?
For Dogs, I love Golden Retrievers, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Corgis, and Shelties.
For Horses, I adore Warmbloods of any breed for sure!

6. Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they?
Photography.
Reading; both for fun and for information.
Horse-back riding for fun.
Growing Orchids. I currently have 4 and they bloom 2-3 times a year.

7. What’s your favorite color?
Blue. Followed by Green, then Purple. Jewel tones mainly. And Silver.

8. What’s your favorite Holiday or Month?
Christmas is my all-time favorite holiday.

9. Do you have a favorite vacation spot? If so, what or where is it?
The Outer Banks in North Carolina.

10. Do you have any special talents? If so, what are they?
• Yes! And it’s hilarious!
• My special talent is trying to get out of the way, and winding up in the way instead!
• I am also known as a Punster and a Meme Queen.
• And maybe gift wrapping; I’m known for my tissue paper flowers.

11. If you could own any breed of horse, what would it be and why?
Owning a Danish Warmblood would be amazing. In high school, I was always on DreamHorse looking for Danes to lease or buy. They’re elegant, refined, and they’re amazing athletes. I would love to get back in the Hunter Jumper ring, and get into Dressage one day. I think they would be the perfect match for me!

12. If you could own any breed of dog, what would it be and why?
A Golden Retriever for sure! They’re always happy, excited, and ready for adventure! They’re expert snugglers, and I love how they always look like they’re smiling. They’re impossible not to love. Check out my Facebook account; it’s all Golden Retriever videos! They’re my spirit animal. I’ve always said it’s a goal of mine to go through life with a Happy Tail Wag and a Happy LandShark Smile, just like a Golden!
And having one would be a way to honor the memory of my best canine friend, Brandy. She was one in a million, and also my heart dog. While she’s been gone for 7 years as of this past September, I still miss her. Here’s an image of her that I took!

13. If you could meet any celebrity, who would it be and why?
Oh this is easy! So many fantastic options. All have been made famous by Facebook.
There’s Ellie the Golden. Napa the Golden. Kevin the Golden (agoldennamedkevin). Sterling Newton (Sterling Newton) the Golden too! Oh and Wallace the Golden (Wallace_the_golden_child). And I cannot forget Finley the Golden! (golden_huck_fin). I cannot pick! I follow them all (and more!) on Facebook and would love to meet (and admittedly snuggle) with all of them!

14. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
There are several locations that I would love to visit!
a. New Zealand. I would love to visit all the sites where Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were filmed. Been a HUGE fan since middle school!
b. Japan. I took several art and history courses in Undergrad, and would love to visit in person!
c. Australia. I was lucky enough to visit right before the Olympics in 2000, and I would LOVE to return as an adult.
d. Italy. Most of my family is from Italy, and I would love to go on a trip to honor my Italian heritage!

15. What would be your dream job?
Being a Marine Biologist…or Professional Wildlife Photographer.

16. What would be your dream meal of choice?
Having Gordon Ramsey surprise me with one of his favorite dishes!

17. What is the top thing on your Bucket List?
That’s a tough one. Despite being an adult, I have yet to create a Bucket List. However, if I had to pick something, I would say travelling the world would most likely be at the top.

18. What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could Scuba Dive and that I could play electric guitar. They’re both on a “To Do List” of sorts, so hopefully I will tackle both of them one day soon!

19. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food for sure.

20. What is something you fear?
Being wrong. And there being serious consequences because of a wrong decision.

21. What’s the funniest joke you heard recently?
My boss said, “I find it highly suspicious that you are only sick on weekdays.” I said, “It must be my weekend immune system.”
If you all are on Facebook, you have to join the Punitentiary. They have “Dad Jokes” like you wouldn’t believe. I’m constantly laughing!

23. Any good books or comics that you’ve read recently?
I am currently reading Harry Potter. I am in the Goblet of Fire as we speak! I have been reading Outlander too; finished book 5, the Firey Cross, in September.

24. Any good movies or shows you’ve seen lately?
I love watching HGTV and the Food Network. I love the shows “Love it or List it,” “Flip or Flop,” and “Chopped.”

25. What is your go-to show to stream? (Via Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc.)
Outlander! I put on the show, intending to watch one episode….then before I know it, four episodes have played!
