how do you keep your lines organised

So I have yet another struggle.. xD I'm trying to find a good way to keep my lines on this acc (my retirement) but I feel like it's quite complicated and I wanted to know how others keep theirs. So I have a line that goes back to 2010 and I think that's why it's so complicated because it's been around a while. So between the og, it's breeding pair and then if the gender was wrong a store was used. I've marked the og one with ** the breeding pair with a line * and the stores are just left with their name but they're all under one divider. Take a look on my acc and maybe it'll explain itself better. I want to separate them because I might try and bring back other older gen lines that are worth doing a retirement breeding with but obviously I had to separate them first. How does this look to you? Do you have a simpler way or better way? Have I completely over complicated the situation xD Edit: I actually had to stop moving them because basically all of the dogs were going to be in this one divider. Halp D: |

I feel like this is a question for Blitz, ... or maybe Jaya? I am a fail at keeping stuff organized for the most part. I keep mine organized by name. Any store dog of course has GEN 1 in front of the name. Regardless of the generation of its mate. Then it goes on from there GEN 2, GEN 3, GEN 10, GEN 20, ect... I have my private lines in one divider and public lines in another. Then every other breed of mine has it's own divider. I don't break it down into dividersby line though. Mainly cause all my other breeds are generally one line and the GSDs have a good bit of lines. So my GSDs have it like GEN 1 | TIU | NAME GEN 20 | KLP | NAME GEN 10 | PS | NAME Which is : GENERATION | LINE NAME ABBREVIATION | NAME. |

Back when I played more longer term (I've only been back a few months) I divided mine by Generations Rosa is awesome, Rosa is fine, Rosa didn't write this... |

I have mine just set by their bloodlines in the sense of names as my different groupings are after my favorite song artists and the names follow that. If they are store bloodlines they go under their own divider. Once they go to retirement I don't worry about them much but that at least keeps it a bit neater in each divider! |

Blitz organized my account a few years ago, and I just follow how she did it. Each breed has their own divider. |

For now I just separate by breed on my retirement and each breed is a single line basically, I just keep 8-16 every generation and fill out after breeding with stores. Once there's hundreds of animals within a single breed on my retirement...TBH I probably wont change it because I am lazy. LOL |

I think it's become overly complicated for me because i'm looking at re breeding. So I tried to organise the lines that are inc in my 20gen lines so I could find the longest gen of others.. but now there are so many because way back when I probably did this exact thing where I bred my oldest gen with the second oldest gen that I had to bring my lines back to life. |

I do the same thing amberellie does as in I've always had each breed in its own divider. |

-points at account 10557- That's how all my breeds are organized.
If you're looking to sort out what has offspring and what doesn't for future line-revival, you could also stick those in a separate "to be bred someday" divider than the rest of your animals.
I also offer account organizing services... -shameless plug- |

Breed isn't the problem as I only have one main breed and dabble in others. Nothing past a 4/5th gen. It's my pugs. I want my long line of pugs in some sort of order where I can not use them to do future reitrement breeds and see my other ones clearly.. Blitz if you think you can do that i'll happily take you up on it but I don't think anyone fully gets what I want lol |

Have a look at my page to see what I did with my old GSDs. I have ancestors of my important lines, then a divider with those under 1m and those 1m |

I know this is old, but I keep track by using Family Echo. It's a family tree site. It found an inbred dog I didn't realize I had. I have track going all the way back to every store for my lines. Also, it's free. |
