Charging for care

So my neighbor just hired me to care for her horses. Friday/Saturday of every week, she's gone to care for her husband. I'll have to go over and feed and water and groom and maybe muck and ride her 3 horses and Shetland horse. She said to name my price, and this is the kind of situation where if I undercharge she will pester me to accept more, but I don't want to overcharge her, she's done a lot for us. What would y'all charge? Just feeding, watering, grooming, maybe mucking and riding. I'm drawing a blank here lol |

OH I HAVE AN ANSWER.
I was mucking, watering, feeding, and grooming a bunch of horses for a few friends of mine off an on in the past few years. Like, they would go away for a week to a rodeo and leave 6 or 7 horses at home, and I would take care of them for a week. I charged about $20.00/ hrand they always tipped me because I was so inexpensive, apparently. But I did not ride them - I exercised them but no riding (the horses were worth a lot so. uhm. no).
Sooo my suggestion! |

Really?! Wow, I would've charged like $10 total and then would've delt with her wanting to pay me more and me feeling weird XD |

$10-15 for general care per hour, but when riding, pricing could go up per ride depending on your skill level, the horses' skill level, and what all the owner wants done with them under saddle. |

I like this because I'm getting different levels of that to charge, how helpful! |
