This Is one of three in the series of free practice images I am doing for a few players. The ever lovely Uta has been guiding me as much as possible, however I am completely open to any constructive criticism. I'd greatly appreciate a thorough explanation behind any issues you see with this! Otherwise, I'm excited to continue on doing these!

I think that you should try softening up the edge so it doesnt look so rough and out of place. Depending on how you cut out the horse from its original picture you should look at those settings. I dont know what imaging program you use, but if you use gimp you might want to feather the edges just a little bit to help it not be so rough. I like the mane and tail but it still does not look natural but its way better than anything I could ever do thats for sure. |

Just to add to Sihtric's suggestion; a quick way to soften the edges of the horse layer in PS would be to duplicate the layer containing the horse, pop the duplicated layer BEHIND the original horse layer and pop a Gaussian blur on there (maybe around a 2.0 strength, nothing intense!). It'll make the edges of the original horse layer look slightly less stark without being too fiddly/time consuming. ;) |
