Soo I want to start up Welaras from scratch, just to challenge myself (and the fact that my main lesson pony is a Welara isn't helping). It would be really hard to do with a basic account though, I can't really afford another yearly upgrade besides my main. It would be easier if I made Welaras my main breed on this account, but I have my Chincoteagues going strong for the most part and I can't really give up on them.

Perhaps I should put my Chincos on another basic account and train/breed them there, along with my other accounts?

Forget about the Welara project and stick with my Chincos?

Or sell my Chincos to another player to help get started with the breed?

This is something that's somewhat annoying to deal with but you could just switch your breed specialty every week so you still have an enter-all/80 energy option with both breeds. So you would start off per say with the Chincos, train them and then switch the breed specialty to Welara to train them. Since you can switch the breed specialty once per week, the next week you would train the Welaras first and then switch to the Chinco and just alternate each week. I did that with two breeds before I got another upgrade for the second one.

The only downfall would be that every other week one breed isn't getting the breed specailty bonus in pts when the shows run.

You could also look for someone who rents upgrades or get one in the auctions for HPD where there are also 6 month and 1 month options :).

A lot of players actually rent upgrades! You could try posting in basic ads and possibly asking nicely of the people offering bulk votes if they offer account leasing.
