I've been here for a few weeks actually. I just went exploring the forums today, and thought I might as well attempt to throw my name out here. :)

Hey everybody, I'm Rumble - or Rum, Mo, Chris - whichever you'd prefer. Recovering HL addict (from so very long ago though) - like most of us, I see. I'm 19 from California, and grew up on horse sims - even though I never really got the hang of breeding lines and all that. I just kinda went my own newbie way, as it were. For the first time when starting a new sim game, I went with a dog breed specialty- the mighty gentle lion-dogs, Leonbergers. But as aforementioned, I have little to no idea about these line-thingymajigs and how all you great breeders produce a quality animal, haha. I'll just be mosying along, I think.

Besides the Leos, I'm really very excited to find a sim game that allows me to exercise my coding skills again! I dabbled a little on HL, and then abandoned coding for years when I quit HL. Then I took an actual class my sophomore year of high school and found that I have a gift for it, if I may toot my own horn. Around that time, I found Horse Galaxy, which unfortunately didn't last too long. Whilst there, I was under the name Uncharted. I took another coding class my senior year, and now it's what I love to do. So following that, I've got my own little cheapo coding bit going on, if you find yourself interested. I do have a graphics thing - also a seed of HL, but I'm not half as talented as the majority of you all. 

Well, having written all that when a simple hello would've sufficed, I might as well add that I write a lot, and can't help writing more every chance I get, hahaha.

Welcome!!!! I use to play HL as well lastly know as Azalie....so carried over to here :) everyone for the most part are very helpful!!!!! And most everyone here are HP addicts....cant get enough!!! Lol

I fell back into my old introduction thread through a sequence of odd events and aww, Baby Me.

I feel like writing a little testemonial thing? Since we have such a large influx of Horselanders coming in, taking a look around and deciding whether or not to stay, maybe hearing from someone who started out a little shy shadow and is now a regular addict might help?

It's been four and a half years since I first joined HP ^^ And from the moment I joined, I was welcomed by players and staff alike. Thank you guys again for being so welcoming and inviting to someone who was just tiptoeing into the community. HP makes it easy to join the community, especially for someone who is chronically shy and introverted. In my experience, online communities are full of tight-knit groups that kinda alienate new people (not really intentionally, but it's intimidating to try and insert yourself into a tightly woven, pre-established community). But not here! The staff practically fall over each other to welcome new players and help everybody get set up and ready to roll.

HP is actually the game that taught me how to train animals, set up lasting lines, and build an empire (big or small) that other players respect for the time and effort put into the animals. I've had horse breeds reach five generations all on my own; dogs have reached gen 8. I trained animals with 2 million points, and this year trained my first 5-millers. 

HP is also where I've really grown as a coder. I started out with simple scrolls and expandables, and learned how to code tabs and accordions, how to style things in a mindblowing number of ways. I've developed my coding style here with so much encouragement and support from the community - those who ordered triple expandies from me when I went by the name Rumble; those who asked me how I did this or that; those who simply sent me messages saying they loved my new layout; and those who jump at my auctions now.
(To any aspiring coders - seriously, keep at it. I learned it all here on HP.)

HP is the reason I got seriously into photo-manipulation. I messed around with Powerpoint and Google images on HL, but HP is where I learned the ropes on stock usage and technique and Gimp (to start with). Seeing all the amazing artists here encouraged me to give it a go myself. I've come ridiculously far from my first manip, and am still improving. If it weren't for HP, I never would have tried.

I have friends here on HP! Literally most of my friends are people I've met here. Tronnie, the first admin to reach out to me and who has always been helpful. Zadaroo, who was so willing to help out a new mod and has continued to help me out with odd requests ever since. Tanabean, my fellow Slytherin and the first person I had a conversation with in chat that was longer than 5 lines. Peinapple, my wonderful Hawaiian who is so much fun to know and talk to. Con, the most helpful and generous player who offered her friendship on a silver platter and hasn't given up on me since. Asian Noodle Broth (Phism), who has always encouraged me in whatever I do and who lets me call her ridiculous names (and still loves me). FWF, my coding buddy and pal in all things fandom and who always has my back. Zeph, who's always there with a smile when I get down. And so many more, I am making new friends every month.

So this has been a fun trip down memory lane :D Ultimate thanks to Sam for creating this game, for keeping it new with updates and surveys, who listens to the community and strives so hard to please everyone. And thanks to everyone for keeping HP alive, growing, and welcoming to brand new, wide-eyed players who have no idea where to start and could always use a helping hand.

I always look for the posts from new players to welcome them and encourage them to stick around and get to know HP, but when I saw this was written by you, I was confused. Then I saw the date, so I'm like ''ok, someone commented on an old thread for x reasons...'' BUT NO. It's monniemonster writing the sweetest testimonial ever! I'm so touched, and I totally agree with everything you've said. I didn't know you on HL, but I'm so glad I met you here ♥
