To retire, or not to retire?

Hey everyone!

I know it has been discussed in the past, but I'm looking for some fresh insight to see if people's minds have changed at all.

Do you retire your horses at 21? Or move them to a retirement account to live out their days? Seeing as the lines don't break, only show deceased, is it worth doing if you have eight million retirees? I remember the general consensus was to hold onto them incase of retirement breedings etc.

My retirement acct is swamped with them, and was curious to see if it is a done thing nowadays, or if people still hold onto them.

:)

I hold onto them. For one, I like to see all of the work that I've put into the game. For two, you're right, you never know when having the lines might come in handy for something like that!

Now, if it's a breed that I've 100% lost interest on, and I never got very far in the lines, then I generally just retire and get it out of my way. But that hasn't happened too often.

I hold on tro them in the off chance that I want to do a retirement breeding for any reason or a ressurrection pass.

Yeah, if you want to get retired animals out of your way but not retire them completely, I volunteer Con's retirement. :P She already has about half a million animals on there, she won't notice more. lmaooo

I wouldn't want to buy a horse with a deceased horse in the lines to be honest - while I realise its an old hangup from my HL days, its a hangup nonetheless.

I will don't mind and I would give them their own divider for you like Skell - BREED NAME.

They will be fed and always there.

I agree with city on not buying animals with deceased in their pedigree.

I'll also offer my retirement for yours as well. I have all my in a divider on this account. But I can purchase another divider with your name and all your retirees in it. Keep them fed and cared for so if you ever decide to do a retirement breed or whatever you can. But they're out of your way until then.

I'm on the same boat as City. I like having access to them all and being able to show them off on a retirement.

That being said, my retirement account is GIANT. It's 10557 if you want to see :P

Now that you can hide tabs if you just place all your retirement animals under a tab and 'hide them' then it really doesn't seem like much because you cant actually see them. Thats what I do anyway xD

I like having a retirement to see how all my hard work over the years has added up. :)

Oh my goodness, my collection looks like nothing compared to most of yours! I must agree, it's nice to see all those years of hard work in one spot.

I've definitely retried some, but like Jaya said, only when/if I lose interest in them completely. If they don't make it past gen 2 they usually get marked for deletion. I'll reach out to other breeders and see if they want to pick up my lines but being that I mainly go for dieing breeds, there's usually no takers. I also have a retirement account so I can keep my main pages tidy.

@Con I remember looking at your retirement and thinking "wow that's a lot of animals" and now I know why lol

Yeah I do the same thing as tragedy as far as hiding my retirement divider. It just makes your page look cleaner and you don't have to scroll for what seems like forever to get to the bottom of your page.

I've retired in the past and I've honestly found it a little saddening to myself to see them retired. I'm not sure why, but I just made me feel sad. Kinda like, aw, that was a good time training.
I've chosen to keep them on my accounts, so, like many, I can use them again if I wanted to for any retierment breedings 😁

Yeah I can totally understand that Ephemira, retiring them properly kinda feels so final. At least having them tucked away on a retirement acct actively gives you that opportunity to rehash some old lines.

Side note: Is someone able to point me to where I can permanently "collapse" the dividers to hide the numerous horses? I've tried looking through my coding, but I must be missing it.

Thanks beauties!

There have been a couple forum posts/threads about collapsing dividers, and this was the most recent one I could find (as I was looking for the RileyCasper coding help one...). Maybe it might help?
