Me, the anti-religious person, loves my family's tradition of some of us going to the evening church service on Christmas Eve. It's literally the only day of the year I go, but so do a lot of others. I'll see neighbours, old teachers, etc at the church. It's also the church I went to as a child, so it's seeing adults I knew growing up too. Favourite part of is is the Christmas music in the service. When you go in they hand you a long thin candle, and the last hymn is always Silent Night. They do a "pass the flame" thing so everyone's candle gets lit, then we sing with the lights dimmed. It's SO hauntingly beautiful. Then after church we go over to my dad's best friend's house for appetizers with his family and visit with them for a few hours, before coming home.

Since my mom passed away i dont have any traditions anymore. I never have christmas or new years, they are like any other day.

Before that time we used to have christmas eve every 24th of december. We would have packages under the tree and have a nice dinner and some snacks with them. I really miss that time. On the 2nd day we would have family dinner at some restaurant. A restaurant i'm hoping to get married in a few years.

Same here. Most of my immediate family members have all passed on so Christmas doesn't mean a whole lot to me anymore. It's just my grandmother and I so we usually bake some old family Christmas cookie recipes throughout the month and we still decorate her tree together. One thing I do look forward to is going downtown and walking through the park at night underneath the Christmas lights.

One tradition I still try to uphold is putting up the tree with all the old ornaments on it, the past few years my stepson has helped me so it's kind of become one of our new traditions❤️

My SO and I watch Dr. Seuss' The Grinch (2018) every year at least once! It's become our tradition since it came out and we loved it so much. ♥

I'm from England but my boyfriend is Croatian so we have a weird mix of traditions on Christmas Eve! I've introduced him to new pyjamas and films (legit mostly the Muppets Christmas Carol and Elf) and he's brought a lot of late night salmon, homebaked bread, and opening some gifts and then we go for a walk around the neighbourhood when everyone's lights are up. A lot better than Christmas day for me I think until kids happen

I love buying gifts for everyone in my family. No matter how old we get, we still always buy everyone something.

Every year me an my mom make a disgusting amount of cookies so we can make platters to give away. But we always have cookies in the freezer for like 2 months after christmas lol. I think we've made 9 different kinds so far!

I have to watch The Santa Clause, Elf, and The Muppets Christmas Carol at some point before Christmas Day.
Growing up all the aunts and uncles would get together on Christmas Eve and have a big dinner and all the cousins would play and open gifts from one another.

Winter tradition for my family; finding the TV channel that plays a fake fireplace on loop. We sit around chatting listening to the crackling flames while our actual furnace keeps us warm. Around Christmas we'll play a different fireplace channel that also has Christmas tunes.

I'm not much into Crimbo any more, but I do keep certain traditions going. I've not lost family, but we don't talk, and mum is in a care home with Alzheimer's.

To me, Christmas Day is pretty much just another day.

Green tree, coloured lights and decorations. I dislike anything else.

Turkey and trimmings for dinner.

I have to have a bottle of Shloer (a fizzy grape drink) with my meal, with a piece of Black Forest gateau afterwards/next day.

I have to have a box of Tunnock's teacakes (blobs of creamy mallow atop a soft biscuit base inside a thin chocolate shell), and a few selection boxes. For through the week.

One of my favorite traditions that we do is a Christmas Eve box, where we get new jammies, treats, and a new movie and we get all comfy and cozy and watch the new movie.

One of my family's winter/christmas tradition is to get together to make lefse, which is a norwegian-american delicacy served at both Thanksgiving and Christmas made of potatoes, flour, and cream. Sort of the nowegian version of a tortilla haha. but then you slather it in butter and brown sugar and roll up and consuuuuuuume!! ;D

I missed bingo so...

Every single year without fail we do a sugar cookie/baking palooza.
This involves three toaster ovens, and a normal oven.
It's all hands on deck, with me, my besties, my sis in law, and my sis helping my Nanny and momma mix and bake.
Usually 1-2 cousins come too.
And all the kids come to help decorate.
(and I mean all - my nieces, my godbabies, my friends kids... theres usually about 20 of them that come and go - even the teenagers down the road show up to "help")
We crank out literally hundreds of treats - sugar cookies, pinwheel cookies, cinnamon buns, butter tarts, everything.
It starts around 5 pm the night before - me and my mom make the sugar cookie dough beforehand as it works better cold.
And then we package up for each family to take home... and extras for workplaces, friends, and classmates.
It has become such a big thing that my mother suggested when me and adam build a house we get a double oven - since so much is made.

Oh goodness I'm a bit late with this one.

We don't have a lot of traditions in my family, but my friends and I generally manage to fall into step every year, and indulge in a ridiculous fruit and cheese platter and far too much champagne under the guise of helping each other plan respective work Christmas parties (we're all self employed). Christmas parties are hard, but cheese and champagne is one of the yearly highlights!
