My nana and I make this traditional christmas cake every year! We make about 15 and hand them out to family and friends. It's very old fashioned, and the only way I can have it is drowned in cream, but I love spending time with her and seeing the joy on people's faces when they receive one.

My Family Recipe
2 1/3 Cup Flour
1/2 TSP BAKING POWER
2/4 CUP BUTTER (UNSALTED)
3/4 CUP SUGAR
1 EGG
2 1/2 TEASPOONS SUGAR
Mix wet together
Mix dry together.
Mix together gently and as little as possible.
Refrigerate 1 hour.
Roll out (use flour on country and rolling pin.
Cute to shapes.
Bake 8-10 min at 375.
ICE WHEN COOLED.

Green pea soup, like the Dutch make it!
1 Leak
500grams of split peas
a piece of celeriac
2 stalks of cellery
2 beef broth cubes
1 carrot
1 can of mini frankfurter or chopped up big ones
100 grams bacon
500 grams pork chop
Onion
Water

1) put the green peas in a colander and rinse with water. You need to rins it till the water is without bubbles and clear. Then just let them sit while you prepare everything else
2) Chop the carrot, leak and onion, cellery and celeriac.
3) Put the green peas in a big pan and add on top of that the Pork chops and broth cubes
4) Add enough water up to 5 cm over the porkchops so they are under.
5) Let this cook, please stir it a lot, the peas burn easily. Remove any weird fluff that floats on top of the water.
6) When everything is cooked, remove the Porkchops, now comes the most work.
7) You need to let them cool down, and remove all the flesh from the bones. Its work you best do with your hands, so its messy ?
8) When you are done, you can add it back in your huge pan of peas, now also add the vegetables and the rest of the meats: The bacon and can of mini frankfurters or chopped frankfurters.
9) Now you cook it till the vegetables are nice and soft. You should be good on salt with the porkchops  and cubes in there.

Enjoy Your thick, wholesome and very filling soup!
If you eat it the same day we call it Erwtensoep ( Green pea soup)
It will become a bit like blubber after a day. Don’t worry. If you want to cook it back up simply add a cup of water and cook it. It will return to normal. We call this “Snert” and Snert is now how it should be! Thick and rich!
Also: If it's very Humid be aware that if the soup has cooled off ; IMMEDIATLY store it in the fridge or it will spoil pretty quick!
It can be stored in the freezer in portions pretty well! To cook, add a spash of water and keep stirring while your peasoup dissolves/unfreezes in the pan. Or defrost it in the fridge before cooking. It's perfect for cold frigid weather

Other than that, I like to make chocolate milk this way:
Chocolate milk!
Caramel syrup
Cinnamon
Whipped Cream
Mini marshmallows
Sugarcoated hazelnuts

You warm up the chocolate milk, with caramel syrup and cinnamon.
Put that in a big glass ( I use 400ml beer pints haha)
Add some mini marshmallows so they float on top of the chocolate
Now add whipped cream
and finish with sugar coated hazelnuts and some more cinnamon.

If you never tried Old fashioned Dutch Doughnuts ( They are for sale in the Netherlands troughout the year and there are varieties with apple, no raisins, Rum-soaked raisins - yumm btw! and banana!  ) I highly suggest you try making some!

So as someone who exists on a diet of 90% sugar (and 10% caffeine), my favourite Christmas recipe is our go-to Chocolate-Orange christmas pud. Because standard christmas pud is one of those kinda 'meh', things, right? Nothing very special, often not done particularly well. But add in chocolate and orange and it becomes all gooey and scrummy.
