Hey guys! I'm looking into the Kindle Fire and was wondering if anyone else on here had one and what you think of it? Is it a good buy? Or should I look for something else? Thanks! :)

Out of all the tablets I honestly think they're only a step above ipads for... infuriatingly overpriced versus actual use. I've heard nothing but bad reviews of Silk (the browser you are forced to use), extremely limited app support versus iOS or true Android devices (because it forces you to use Amazon's app store, not the google play store), and you can't even change your stinkin' background. From friends, not like... from the internet.

I have an Asus MeMO 7" that was less than half the price of my friend's Fire HD and is much more uh... user friendly. The Google Nexus is it's closest "name brand" cousin, as they're both made by the same hardware manufacturer.

What the fires ARE good for, is being really good at.. being an Amazon friendly device. They're the best of the tablets for serving as an eReader, and tend to have more storage for their price range for downloading media. If you're looking at downloading a lot of files, a Fire may be a better fit for you. If you're not, I'd suggest looking at some of the other Android options like some of the lesser known manufacurers, the Nexus, or even the Galaxy's tablet line.

If you want an ereader I'd get a dedicated one like the kobo glo or the kindle paperwhite.

If you want a tablet tablet i'd follow sam's advice. I just think that an ereader is so much better as a dedicated device rather than a hybrid thing as it does the job of both but neither especially well..  I love my ereader so so so so so much because it doesn't hurt my eyes as its literally like reading off paper :)
