So I was thinking, it should be fairly easy to add and would make things easier if we had the date the animal retires on their pages.  It would automatically populate like birthdate and points born with.  The only problem I would see here would I'm not sure if it would be able to change if a horse is aged forward/back.

That's what I was thinking.  I tend to breed my animals the day before they retire for max points, so this would make it waaaay easier to track. :D

Also colour is somewhat irrelevent as its whatever colour the picatureee is IMO. 

I know I personally use the color sections to mark the day of the week they were born so I breed them the day before. But if that was implemented, I could likely give it up :P

I don't think these are getting calculated correctly. I breed four horses and it's saying they retire the when they turn 20 not 21.
