When it was coming up to your birthday, did anyone else ever have a 'donation/wishlist' on their page? And then advertise in the chat 'it's my birthday, plz donate to me!?!?!?!' or was it just me?

My skin is crawling at the thought of this, lol. 

Ooooh the cliques! I used to get bullied by a couple people on HL and on the HMF for my graphics, it sucked :(. But on the plus side, I made some life-long friends like Mystery and a few others. A lot don't play now, but we still keep in touch on FB. 

I also remember getting an influx of messages from a player's friends for winning a club presidency that she was also going for. It was such a lawless wasteland.

I remember SNOB, lol! Had totally forgotten about that! 

I'm kinda in the same boat with apothie, although I never got the nerve to pop into chat. I just created a bunch of accounts and ditzed around with my animals lol. I created a Warriors clan rp that had exactly one person in it (me). I threw up twilight all over my page one week, and then literally a week later, ripped it all down to throw up ANTI-twilight shit because being anti was cooler lmao. I made "pro graphics" with PowerPoint and made my own lil banner like I was cool despite not selling one pic xD

So pretty much everything I did on HL was cringe lmao

I remember the wishlists and announcements in chat! lol

Also, SNOB = Superior to N00bs and Obnoxious Buffoons.

I remember doing some silly thing for someone and being so excited that I got $1million lol

I had so many diff names too...but eventually settled on azalie.

i don't think i ever really got bullied on hl, but then again i really kept to myself there. i was being bullied in real life, and super internalized that and very quickly stopped reaching for others. lol. fun.

i really just considered myself a trainer- it let me just stick to myself. i liked seeing the points grow and feeling that accomplishment. i could never stick with a breed though, getting bored and selling within the first or second generation until i got my kabardas.

i did make friends with one player and can't for the life remember their player name. we RIOTED against the whole "crossbreeds R BaD" thing and went hog wild buying horses from the humane association. we set up mares on one account and stallions on the other and just bred them all for fun. 

seem to remember a "snark" blog lol but im sure it's long gone by now.

Oh my goodness Moonwake, that reminds me of having a "rescue account" where I would buy up all the cheap horses and mass retire them, even having a counter of how many I'd "rescued" haha. I used to think I was doing the game SUCH a tremendous service XD

See - I was just on the cringey Chatzy RP's during the HL times.. so I never got into the cliques and chats there. I just used it as a way to get into more RP's.. so cringe. 

Sat, I used to rp so much too and on chatzy alot as well. Super cringe. I was apart of the "bully' group but was never one to bully was just somehow all their friends. Julian actually got me to be a mod on HL. xD Soooooo cringe. 

I never experienced any of the bullying or cliques because I was even more of an introverted lurker when I was younger. For me it was all about the training. Remember the days when you could input your own breed and specialize in any animal/vegetable/mineral you could dream up? I bred Nubian goats and Birman cats. Anybody else breed anything crazy? :) Oh and does anyone remember some of the "famous" elite horses on the game? I've always remembered Grey B Baby, a QH I believe, and Dammit the Norwegian Fjord. I vaguely remember the very overbred Paint horse but can't recall his name.

I remember the asking for donations, I remember everyone had a rescue account because it was like FORBIDDEN to be a slaughter house, and god forbid you were a slaughter house... the amount of hate you'd get. I was a slaughter house there for a while, also a rescue place haha. I remember writing SNOB at the end of my player name. I also remember ART DECO! There was also another famous horse there who was overbred. I wish I could remember its name lol. I vowed to NEVER breed outside lines because of Art Deco. I think even now I refuse to breed outside lines because of the fear of the horse being overbred or impurely bred and then ending up with permanently impure lines... which would render the horse worthless LOL. 

As an aside. I made two incredible friends from HL. Both of whom have been in my life for 20 years. One I got to meet in person and became great friends with. I was there for all her kids and even when she got married. Another friend of mine I met there when she was 11 and I was like 17. She and I are still friends 20 years later, she too is married with kids. It's incredible hahaha.

I was about 11 when I started playing. My game name for a few years was "Rocky Rox My Sox". I eventually discovered "African Wild Dogs" and started going by "AWD" for short, and it just stuck (creative, I know). 

I also did a TON of cringy things
- made numerous accounts with different names trying to work my way into the cool crowd (literally would talk shit from a few accounts, and then from my "real" account, I'd defend the cool kids, hoping to be let in)
- adding "SNOB" to my name, and then getting TORN APART because I wasn't "in" 
- had a "slaughter" account -- can't fit in with the cool kids, might as well go big or go home, amiright?
- shamelessly made "PRO pics" using PAINT....like....regular ol' paint! -roflmfao-

I don't even know why I am admitting to all this...? It almost feels nostalgic & strange at the same time.... It's been close to 2 decades, and I am proud to say that I have changed and grown up LOL. But what a trip to go down memory lane. 

Everyone's comments and memories made me get back more that I had completely forgotten about. So, thank you, everyone! < 3

Does anyone also remember a graphic maker called Tribal (Tink) and she was notorious for the, at the time, difficult pictures but her pics were literally incredible at the time and so sought after!

I can't say I remember Tribal unfortunately. HL was when I first took up graphic design, started doing all those "pRo PiCs" with HL purple, the grid, all that lmao. I remember Art Deco, I remember staying up until midnight on the last day of the month for the only time I decided to run for club president - and lost D: Clubs were viciously competitive back then, it was insane. Just the hate you'd get if you won. Had my main account stolen with my best Andalusian stallion who was 40k at 8, which was a feat back then because I decided to let someone on to train and hadn't filled out my secret answer. Boom, account gone.

I got bullied alot on there lol  And Julian was the worst!  I was obsessed with Tribal (Tink)'s graphics!  I started using Paint Shop Pro on there and that's where my love of graphics started.  I wanted to try so hard to have Tink's style, but never had the right program!
