I'm not sure if this counts as a "bug" but I just bred two Labernese dogs together expecting a Saint-Pierre dog and the pup just ended up a Labernese.ย

Taken from the embassy page;

In real life, when a LB is bred with another LB, this is considered a "true" Saint-Pierre (SP), but this is not accepted on the game.

Ah, didn't see that. I think I was confused because the first Saint-Pierre on the game was bred from two Labernese.

Maybe it was changed when the breed list changed? Thank you for pointing it out, I'll just have to rethink my breeding strategy. =)

I think it may be because you're not actually crossing two different breeds and so the game doesn't recognize it as aย cross breeding.

*edit* that still doesn't explain how the first one came about but it's just a thought

On the thread about adding the breed, Koni said that "Labernese x Labernese = Saint-Pierre"ย

ย

So was that changed? :(ย

Ok so Koni might be making a forum post about it but I also wanna share it here to answer the immediate questions.

HP's programming wouldn't allow the pup from two same-breed parents to be a different breed. It just wasn't working and all LabernesexLabernese pups were coming out Labernese. Awd's Saint-Pierres (the ones from LabernesexLabernese breedings) had to be changed manually by Blitz.

So for now, the only ways to get Saint-Pierres are to breed Labernese to either Labs/Bernese, or to message Blitz to have them manually changed. Hopefully, we can get the programming adjusted in the future, but it's just not possible for now v-v

That makes perfect sense, thanks for clarifying! I don't really want to bother Blitz to change this batch of pups' breeds so I'll probably just train up some BMDs and Labs to breed with them for next time. These Saint-Pierres are a complicated doggo. :D

Honestly it takes me less than 30 seconds to change, if you do want me to it's really not a problem.

ย

I did try to add them through the labernese x labernese way to the crossbreed thing but it threw an error. It literally will not let 2 of the same breed end up being another breed name. :(

That would be amazing if you don't mind, it's just 4 pups.ย

I'm confused as to the actual dogs. How does breeding two same-breed dogs produce a different breed? Wouldn't labernese parents produce labernese pups? If that's how St. P. are produced, then would breeding two labradoodles or two goldendoodles produce pups that could be called a new breed?

Theoretically, that's the case Kuw! I guess they're validating the new breed idea because of the dilution of the foundation breeds is doubled by breeding two crosses together. Either way, that's just the process that was outlined according to Awd and the Saint-Pierre creators ^^
