I had a picture created that I'd like to use for my dogs BUT..

Are we allowed to use images generated by Midjourney AI?

If so, how would you go about crediting it?

Is it an AI image that you have generated yourself using prompts via discord? Fundamentally the images generated via Midjourney are all in the public domain afaik, but if you look at the terms on their website it differs a bit relative to whether you are a free or a paid user.

I think I gave Blitz the headache of the century when I asked about using AI generated BGs. 😂

How I have been crediting (as discussed with our commander in chief, who is most welcome to intervene here if I'm incorrect!), is essentially as 'BG generated by Utakata using midjourney ai', with a link to their website. (I'm a paid subscriber to midjourney).

Sorry to Blitz in advance 😅

I'll have to dive deeper into their site, but yes, it's from the AI on discord - currently breezing through the free images I have and considering a subscription lol

It's pretty addictive once you get a hang of it and figure out which prompts work best for what you want etc.

But it does have limitations - 80-90% of the time the quality isn't great, even on remastered or beta upscaled images (not such an issue for 800x600, but if using in larger BGs then they often have to be used blurred (such as in https://i.imgur.com/BcYFnWO.png or https://www.deviantart.com/utakata-creations/art/Dreams-and-Illusions-932797899 - I added to this one a lot).

BUT they can be super useful for creating backgrounds with very specific atmospheres/details. And very fun to play around with.

I'll be honest, I generated a bg and immediately thought to myself 'I wonder if Uta could do something with this..' 😂 but I 100% agree with the quality. The standard is just over 1000 x 1000 I think? I don't have the skills or patience yet to do anything useful with them lol

I love these images for painting references, myself.

But as for crediting - oof.  Unsure

apo - yeah, the res for beta upscaled or remastered images is 2048x2048, I believe (upscaled may be slightly less than remastered versions, not sure as I usually just use the remaster option). But in most cases you wouldn't want to actually SEE it at 2048x2048 because then you start to see how wacky they look. Some things can look really good; others less so.
