Hello everyone, and welcome to the December Writing Competition for the HP Writers Guild! This month, you are tasked with choosing a phrase, and writing a passage with this phrase as the beginning line. There is no theme, and no word limit, but the aim is to write at least one paragraph. The phrases are as follows:

1. The house shook violently, sending my possessions sailing to the floor...

2. "Pick a number, any number," the woman spoke through veiled eyes...

3. Evie knew the horse was special, but she had no idea...
