Suggestion Summary, May 2023

Every month, by request, I will be making a post summarizing that month's anonymous suggestions, and my response to them. Each suggestion will have also been shared with the other admins for their feedback as well (especially if the suggestion specifically pertains to their job), and their views are also expressed here in my summary. 

All suggestions were anonymous, into the Google Form pinned to the top of this Suggestions section of the forum. The only two questions on the form ask what the suggestion is, and what today's date is, in order to help sort out when something was submitted. No player information is exchanged.

Suggestion 1: "re-instatement of the racehorse club, cleansing of aged/ retired horses (over 3-500) to cut down on clutter in horse rankings/ store pages by breed, potentially another breed cleanse; in order to also potentially add new/ different breeds back into the game"

I will respond to this in bullet form, seeing as it contains multiple suggestions...

- (With thoughts from Koni) The Racehorse club was just culled back on December 1st, 2022 when we did the big club cull. Back in the fall, we asked for input on cutting some clubs in a survey, then Koni and I reviewed the responses and then cut clubs based on that. The cutting/merging of some clubs was an attempt to streamline things more, as most clubs always seem to be run by the same couple of people, so we don't need a whole bunch of clubs. Race Horse was cut because it can be included in the English Discipline club. I can elaborate further on why we kept/merged what we did if needbe, but the tl;dr is that we aren't looking to re-add it at this time. If clubs became more popular for participation all-around, then we'd be more likely to consider it.

- I'm not 100% sure which of these aged horses/dogs you're referring to, Anonymous player...those with 0 points? Any animal over a certain age?...Either way, I do periodically chip away at purging really old accounts that have not been logged into and don't have an account linked to it that has been logged into since before Dec 31, 2014. When I delete those accounts, any animals on them automatically get sent to the HA, and then go for sale as of midnight. Anyone is welcome to purchase those purged account animals and do what they want with them, including retiring/deleting them. At this point that's as far as I'm at with purging to "cut down the clutter".

- (With thoughts from Koni) Breed Purge...at this time we don't have any immediate plans to do another one of these, although it is something we could consider looking at on a yearly basis if it's what people really want us to do? I believe we're coming up on a year since we did the last one, so if it's something you all want, maybe reply to this or shoot me a message if you feel strongly about it either way? I honestly haven't looked at the breed lists lately to know how many more would be purged if we did this tomorrow either, just as a disclaimer.

- Adding breeds...we don't need to do a purge in order to also get new breeds! New breeds can be put forth in the Add a Breed section of the forum at any point, and providing you get the required number of players to express interest in wanting to start them. There's a pinned post at the top of that section of the forum with details on requirements for getting things added.

Suggestion 2: "I think that having a layout generator for breed embassy's would be a really neat thing to have on HP. Especially if your not a person that codes or knows how to really code having this option available would be really nice feature! :D"

In theory this could be something we look at adding in the future, although poor Mango, our previous layout generator creator, is still working through some things with her hand injuries, and I'm not about to rush her through her recovery for this. The layout generators also require javascript writing, which is far beyong my own coding abilities. Therefore, at this point it's not on the immediate horizon to add this as a feature, unfortunately. In the meantime, you could try messaging one of the current embassy managers to see if they could code you something and/or would be willing to share their codes with you! I know neither of mine are anything super amazing, but I myself would be willing to share what I did with mine...

Appreciate this, it offers so much transparency into decision making on the game. 

I like seeing what suggestions have been brought up and the thought process behind them from the admin side too!

I'm glad it's helpful! Next one will come out sometime the first week of July (seeing as both Canada and the US have holidays within the first 4 days of July...). It will definitely be out before the 7th, though, as I am away that weekend!
