Hello everyone!

I have been volunteering for our local 4H horse program for 5 years now, and we are now meeting every Wednesday night for 1-2 hours each week.

Last night we went over the basic safety rules and then did simple ridding maneuvers to get an idea of skill level for the first year members.

What I need from you, is ideas on activities we can do with the members to advance their skill level while keeping them safe!

Every other week we hold clinics with different clinicians that we bring in to work on things with the kids and to teach them all aspects of horse care and training. Examples: we have a vaccination/first aid clinic, we have a roping clinic, a patterns clinic, etc.

But for our open ride nights, the kids are all so quiet and we can't get them engaged. We want them to have fun and open up with us, and that generally happens when they are doing different activities.

Anyone have some thoughts/ideas?!
