Poetry is not my strong point, but I'm going to try to whip something up!

I am SO EXCITED to see interest! Thank you all for taking the time to enter, it means so much to me. The beauty about poetry is that it is completely free to interpretation! Even if you think it's terrible, others may find it wonderful!

I'm also awful at poetry (I mean, I've never tried, but I'm gonna go ahead and assume because poetry) but I love the idea of the writing competitions, so I'll get something whipped up as well. ^^

*ETA - posting now as City bullied me into not being such a wuss (though she hasn't read it so, you know). I 100% blame this cheese on the OC in whose PoV it's written, as she's 10x more of a melodramatic hoe than even I am.

The glimpse of a shadow in flight,

or the breath of a passing breeze.

or perhaps the ominous rhythm of drums which race toward—

You are there, written into the fibre of my being

as surely as the blood in my veins

and the air within my lungs.

Inescapable and ineffable,

ever beyond my reach.

Only in oblivion do I find you;

feel the warmth of your smile

and the softness of your skin.

Where your embrace holds the flames at bay

and your silent words promise hope.

With daylight you are lost -

and I left yearning for the dark.

Living for a whisper, for a phantom.

For a dream.

I'm terrible at poetry but I'll give it a go.

I have a draft going. I'm just intimidated now, since Uta's piece was amazing!

In realms of fire, where legends reside, 

Where fierce and mighty, beasts of old abide, 

There lies a creature, both feared and admired, 

The mystical dragon, with wings wide and inspired. 

With scales of gold, gleaming in the sun, 

A sight so extraordinary, hearts are won, 

Leviathan of the skies, soaring up high, 

Breathing flames, painting the heavens with a sigh. 

Oh, majestic dragon, bringer of awe, 

A symbol of power, beyond nature's law, 

Your presence commands both reverence and fear.

Jaya, I hope you're comfortable enough to post it - I love reading other people's writing, much in the way that I love seeing other people's art. Everyone has their own unique angle and style, which is what makes it interesting! -gets down off soapbox- xD

Write a poem, I was told…

But where does one begin?

No ideas, 

No muse.

I turned to my husband and asked:

“What should I write about?”

He just stared at me.

Now frustrated, and back at square one;

Surely there must be something I can write about!

No theme, they said.

Write about something, anything!

My mind goes blank.

How can there be nothing? 

I turn to google, and search

“Poem idea generator.”

Who am I kidding? 

That didn’t help at all.

I’m running out of time

Keep on fighting

Eyes up

I’ve got it.

Can I write a poem about not knowing what to write about?

Surely no.

But then again…

I put a pencil to my temple

And I begin to write.

Leaves crunch, crunch, silence.

Coffee drip, drip, silence.

Alarm beep, beep, silence.

Morning rush, rush, silence.

Silence, do you notice it?

Silence, the subtle power of it?

Leaves crunch, crunch, silence.

Coffee drip, drip, silence.

Silence, do you notice it?

Alarm beep, beep, silence.

Morning rush, rush, silence.

Silence, the power of it?

Work, work, silence.

Silence, are you missing it?
