If a dog or horse has been trained for the week (energy at 0 out of 70) can you still use tickets to gain points? Or do using tickets require energy?

Tickets do not require energy! You may still use tickets to gain points even after energy is at 0. 

You can also use tickets on animals that aren't of a trainable age yet!
